I recently decided to get an extended warranty for my blu ray player because you just never know if it will malfunction or stop working, so just to be on the safe side I figured I may as well get a extended one year warranty so at least I'll get a full refund if the item suddenly breaks
How about you all do you bother with getting a warranty or do you just buy an item and hope for the best?

I usually don't get the warranty..but I guess I probably should. The thing that I think about is that the factory has a warranty already on the product for a certain length of time. It might not be 5 years, but I figure if I buy something new, it better last through the warranty period already on it. I know that everything I have bought, they have asked about that warranty. It would have been anywhere between $50 and $100 extra if I had gotten it. I haven't had anything I bought "mess up" and that would have been money that company just got to keep. Now I know it has paid off for a lot of people. It's a good idea...I just don't usually get it.

I bought my second blu ray player pre-owned at an online retailer, and of course most pre-owned items such as electronics don't come with a warranty, so I wanted to make sure I was covered in case it malfunctions or is DOA
Also some new items come with warranties included but they don't cover long enough, or the manufacturer chooses not to honor it, so I figured why not get an extended warranty. besides it cost me next to nothing to have coverage for a year I think I got a pretty good deal.

If it's for the kids YES! If it is something that is for my hubby and I it depends on where, when and how it will get used. Like stuff that I get for camping or boating will get the warranty for sure. The DVD player in our bedroom so not going to need it.

Hiya apples,
If I buy something I donĀ“t bother anymore with anything. I do get a bit bothered when something I really like breaks and its supposed to have lasted ages more than that.
My walkman broke the other month and I have decided never to buy another one as it seems all of the chargers you buy mess them up in the end so I will just stick to buying ordinary music gadgets when I can that is at the moment I am borrowing my Kids ones and the headphones to go with it lol.xxx
Hope yours lasts much longer when you buy something here its like buying a Lottery Ticket you never know what can happen.xxx

Sometimes the price of such warranty and item matters. what is the price of your blu ray player and to extend warranty? there are many new products available on the market so unless your blu ray player is really the best for you, I would not recommend to buy extended warranty.
Btw, what does the warranty covers? you should check through and read every detail of such warranty. This is mainly due to some warranty does not cover much and they may deny what you have to said later. I personally never buy any extended warranty.
Apart from that, I've worked in some mix product retailer before for few years, many customers had not get what they deserved from the product warranty, they waited for years just to get a replacement for a rice cooker, dvd/blu ray player, toaster and so on.
To conclude, warranty is not really my thing after my experience with it. As I said earlier, you should consider the price of your blu ray player, how much trust you can have with the warranty and whether you really like that player so much before extending the warranty. Anyway, I hope you will make the right choice. ^_^
