I heard a lot of friends and colleagues complain that they don't get what they deserve in terms of their salaries. How much control we actually have in demanding for our worth in our field of work? Or is it really the market dictates? do you often feel that the employment world is unfair to you?

The employers will always have the say on this matter. No matter how many times we try to complain about this issue. It is just hard to solve it because the moment you leave the job there is someone else who will accept that same low salary. It can be successful if we all agree on the standard salaries that should be paid on specific jobs.

That's really the closest solution I guess. A unity in the employees to demand on the standard wages, but the reality is that its so hard to achieve since we all comes from different backgrounds having different needs. Survival is still the main consideration after all.

In some cases, yes. But we should not be doing that all the time, sticking on the employer's demand. We also need to voice out what is really for us, I am sure they once employee's before,so they will understand.

Unfortunately, this is how things work. we have to accept the fact that there are way too many graduates nowadays on the market. When everybody is looking for job, while the job opportunities that are available on the market is very few. That is why the employer has the power to lower the salary offered. For them, there is always somebody willing to accept the lower salary.
However, if you are venturing in professional jobs. there is always an act governing the salary standard for you. That way, you won't be taken advantage by the employer.
It should be noted that job experience is another thing that you can use to negotiate your salary. If you have years of working experience in certain profession, you can always get a better deal.

Very insightful! I'd like to agree on that fact that there are lots of applicants on a much lesser job opportunities and capitalists are using this scenario to give lower pays. On the other hand, having years of experience sometimes is not a guarantee of getting good deals because again, you're competition are those who are accepts to be paid lower.
