For millions of people all over the world. "Christmas," supposedly commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, is a very important religious event. To Anglican, Protestant, Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox churches, it certainly is the most popularly observed occasion each year. Their chapels and cathedrals, decorated with evergreen and poinsettias ("Flor de la Noche Buena' or Flower of the Holy Night' in Mexico), reverberate at Christmastime with special hymns, "oratorios", and carols. No wonder that the author Jane M. Harch wrote that "in its social or festive aspect, December 25, is a curious hybrid of the seasonal traditions of numerous people. But is it really the date of the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ?

the reason why Christians celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas is because that is the day of the winter solstice. The winter solstice is the first day that there are more hours of light than of darkness. A long time ago, the early Christians and the Pope believe that this was a sign of the darkness being conquered by the light, hence there would be symbolism for making Christmas that day. In addition, on the very day that is now Christmas theret was a big pagan ceremony every year. Rather than compete with the pagan holidays, early Christians decided to make their holidays at the same days as the pagan ones. They thought they could more easily convert people if they had the same parties on those days. The same thing happen with Easter – it was a fertility holiday of the goddess Easter, whose symbols were rabbits and eggs. There are pagan roots to many of the Christian holidays, in particular Christmas and Easter. In actuality, most historians believe that Jesus was born in the spring. This is because the shepherds route with their flocks, and they would only be out with them during lambing season, which occurs in the spring.

The same thing happen with Easter – it was a fertility holiday of the goddess Easter, whose symbols were rabbits and eggs. That is silly the Christian Easter is connected with the Jewish Pesach not with goddess Ishtar.Easter is the english name of the celebration, all the other countries are using words close to Pesach for the same celebration. It`s true there is a tradition with Painted eggs and it was adopted in the church but who told you anything about the rabbit ? That is a secular tradition like Santa.

The Christmas celebration is all about making money! Even the Church rakes in huge amounts of money, which is why they have continuous mass, and 2 collections in each mass (the second supposedly for the decorations which were are several years old) Christianity, and Christmas,is the oldest most successful Scam the world has ever seen, and it just keeps on raking in the cash!

actually, this speak for myself, I know a lot of Christians who were really horrible people. It always bothered me that the Christian religion teaches that all Christians go to heaven all non-Christians go to hell. In reality, often the non-Christians are nicer people than the Christians. Most of the friends who stuck by me through my life or non-Christians, they stuck by me when my Christian friends turned on me and judged me. It's hard to imagine that the bad Christians will be in heaven and the good atheist will be in hell. Why would I want to worship a God like that, who does that?

On the night of Christmas, to see the crib and see sesus being born in a manjer, everybody becomes sentimental. Before a child everybody becomes mind and kind and to think of Jesu, being the son of God, coming into this world and accepting to be born in a poor family, everybody moves. Those christmas songs bring joy to the heart. everybody like to communicate a message of peace. Most of the people like to reconciliate.

No it is not. No where in the bible does it say that Jesus was born on that day. If you look up the many traditions of Christmas in any Encyclopedia you will find that all of these traditions go back to the pagan religion where they worshiped the Sun god. The Catholic religion many years later wanted to bring in more and more people to worship so they took some of these pagan beliefs and mixed them together with some of the beliefs of the bible. But when researched you will find that this holiday is in no way a religious holiday. All you need to do is look it up and do the research for yourself to find out the truth.
