Do you give or don't? I see these a lot in the streets and sometimes, I wonder am i really helping them by giving money/food or am i tolerating them to be lazy instead of teaching them and make them realized that there's no such thing as "free lunch" always.

My personal opinion is as follows, I think if a beggar asks for money, and you have some spare change in your pocket, then give it to them, if you have a half hour, take them to McDonald's and buy them lunch. I don't know if you're religious or not, but God says if you can help someone, you should, if you have a little extra, and you see someone who doesn't have anything, then you should give them you're extra. Another good example supporting my point is, if one day you found yourself bankrupt, no money, no home, and your say a 2 days drive from any family or friends, and you had no money for food, the only thing you had were the clothes on your back, and you knocked on someones car door out of pure necessity, wouldn't you want them to come to your aid? Some beggars are that way out of laziness, but some are only begging because they have no choice. And honestly, I sleep better at night knowing I helped someone, even if only a little, then wonder if I turned down a starving man asking for my help.

well it depends upon the situation if that's the kind of beggar who will knock at my door i will give 'em some spare money but if those professional beggars a big NO! some of them are part of syndicates who sometimes use kids to ask for money. they do that as a living, it really exist esp. in our country like ours.

I donĀ“t give money to beggars. They are mostly lazy people and most of them are also vwery agresive. They have their places near lights and come to cars while the light is in red. I keep my doors shut and windows closed because they cqan also steal

I Often wonder it too. There's a lot of considerations you can do, but finally you cannot know why that person is in that conditions now. Maybe your money will help him and maybe not. So it is not the case for me to find a right way to do. Sometimes I help, sometimes not. It often depends if I have some money or food at that moment.

It's a double edge sword sort of thing when you don't give a damn people may think that you are a cold hearted person on the other hand if you reach out to them it's like you're tolerating them to be lazy and unproductive individuals. Being a Catholic I believed that you can hand them a part of what you have and it's nice to know that in your own little way you somehow eased their hunger.
