I wasn't really planning on giving them anything but bookmarks which were a bit expensive but then they mentioned something about exchanging gifts... I don't reslly want to say yes but then- peer pressure , it's not even in my budget.. plus i am bad at giving gifts since i don't know what they want... Any tips? Maybe something they can use which does not exceed 10 dollars- we're in college already.

I think that the bookmark idea is wonderful as all of you will need to read in college. But maybe they would be less expensive if you made them yourself and it would have a lot more meaning. Buy some felt, glitter if you wish, a marker to put each person´s name and some glue. And there you are!

I´m glad that you solved well your problem. Christmas presents are hard to buy, no matter how much money you have. But still is worse if you cannot spend more than a little money and have to give something to everyone

I have already bought bookmarks though, and they had beautiful messages written and coincidentally, just the words I want to say to them. ANd they also have those cute bracelets with it, definitely worth the price.

If it is a group of friends you can get them a candle set or something like that to help keep the room smelling cute. My friends and I did a gift exchange in college, I got a jewelry box and a bracelet, I gave an candle holder I made. It was fun.

I already raised the suggestion of giving them candles and they immediately laughed it off, said they already had them. It is quite hard to pick gifts for them since they also don't want accessories..

How about something you use every day that does the best job. I mean like a pen or pencil. When ever I find one I really like I try to give it to my friends and family. I even found reusable labels that worked great and brought those for friends, they are great in classes where you need to refer back to a special page in a book or report. Of course on the computer etc. you don't need as many mechanical items. If someone is loosing weight give them a nice tape measure that is easy to read and a small note pad for listing measurements. Someone who needs to make a lot of notes to remember things give bright colored sticky notes. That's all I can think of at the moment.

I am not used to giving a present in Christmas time. If I want to give my friend a present in Christmas, I would buy him or her DVD or CD of the latest Christmas song and send Christmas card as well.

Thank you for your advice, I would try and look for good Christmas songs, they always have a lot of new ones in this time- usually remixes though and covers. I will give them bookmarks too.

Hmmmm , what about giving them a personalize gifts. Maybe shirts, necklace, bracelets or charms and chains . It would be more memorable for them if you could give these.

I already asked them if they like to have accessories or perfumes- but they said they don't want any.. it could have been easier if they were girly girls. Now my mom says I should give them something they can use for the bathroom....ike a scrub or something.

Go to Barnes and Noble and find them a book on poetry or something. THey can't be that expensive. The gift of giving is two fold. The joy of giving and that of receiving. And doing without alittle to make our friends happy isn't a bad thing. A gift doesn't have to be expensive.

We don't really have that store around here- and they prefer to read e-books and mangas than poetry books. I will just find something useful to them , I am going to buy it tomorrow already..i am quite excited.

You should talk to them and all agree on a certain amount of money that you're going to spend on each other. If you do this, you should find that it is easier to think about what you could get them as you'd have a specific amount with which to work with. Have you considered a secret santa set up? That way, you would only have to buy one present and this would mean that you would be able to spend a little bit more on that present than you're going to be able to spend if you're having to buy gifts for the whole of your friendship group.

You can always buy a gift not too expensive. What matters is the thought (and it is true) Try to buy a gift which you think will suit to anyone. A book maybe, or a dvd movie- cd's of latest song.

So, you are having headache about what gifts you should give your friend this Christmas? I won't have too much headache about it. It would be much easier for my friends, I would simply buy them a gift cards, or I would invite them to a nice dinner, that is my gift to them though.

Yeah, I guess it's really hard to decide if you are the one giving gifts but I think your friends have the same difficulty as yours. But since you are her friends and I guess most of the time you are with them, at least you may have a hint what they really like. And since you are still studying and are a bit tight on your budget I guess they will understand and same with them.Ten dollars is reasonable I think.

10 dollars is the limit, we agreed that the lowest price would be 2 dollars. Since we are students... I just hope they would love what I would give to them, and I hope I find a good gift since they have been really good friends to me.

Actually , it's easy to gauge what your friend might like. Since you are friends , you know each others' likes on things. Start from there, but be sure not to exceed your $10 budget.

Well, I do now some of their likes, I just think that they already have them since they are quite rich... which makes it harder for me to choose, I might disappoint them for my lack in budget or something..

10 USD for a college exchange gift is already quite expensive. There are a lot of nice things you can buy out of it. YOu can check on ebay for perfumes at discounted price. There are a lot of bargain items online that would fit in that budget of yours.
