I don't know what exactly the problem is. I just want to share this situation to know what is your idea about this problem. This is the situation. She had a relationship with this guy within 2 yrs. They had lot of moments good and bad together as usual in a relation. We've been friend with this girl since college and when she met this guy i'm so disappointed because for me the guy is not deserving for her but my friend was so in love that is why i have no right to stop them. I'm still friend to them even i know what that kind of guy is. And after taking the board exam the girl fortunately passed. Couple of month after posting the result i heard that she broke up with that guy, I was shocked after 2 yrs of being together suddenly she decide? I ask her "why?", she told me she's not happy anymore?. I ask her if that is really the reason, and she told me one of the reason is the education level of the guy. That's it?It is really matter? How about you? What is your opinion about this?

To me, love is beyond education. If you really love someone, you don't leave him because he has low level of education instead you try to suggest to him better ways he can attain education like working and doing part time classes. Her love seems more conditional.

You are so right. Love is beyond education, money or work status. You shouldn't leave someone simply because your education level is different than yours. Like you said all you can do is suggest better ways of improving himself or encourage him to do things they want to do.

Thanks for the opinion guys! Yes i agree with that love is beyond education. If that love was true you can't easily let go with that guy and you're right you can suggest him what to do to improve his life and helping him to achieve that.

i think it should not pose as a problem. relationships are not to be successful when both partners are of degree holder, etc. but i would say that it all depends on the emotional maturity of the person. your friend here has probably set a standard for herself and that is her own choice. She is backing out of it already because she know she wanted someone with a good education and before she actually falls in love with the person she has stayed away from it already.

yes your right maybe my friend sets standard to herself. And for me if you love the person no need to reason out the education as long as both of you are in love...^_^

In my opinion: Education or wealth is not bar for a happy relationship. No matter how rich you are but not happy with your love...it is useless. The important was happiness and contentment. If she left the guy because of education. That will be a matter of unethical decision. Because she should left the guy when she still in college...not at the point when she is professional. Then suddenly left the guy...better if nothing was happen both of them?

exactly that is my point. but i'm happy with her decision now she's doing it for a practical reason. maybe their relationship doesn't working at all. she's not happy to be with that guy.

It sounds like there is another side of the story she is probably not giving you. How can you just fall out of love with someone instantinously after being in a relationship with someone for two years. Education level shouldn't be an issue as far as I am concern. Other people might have a different point of view. If you truly love someone, who cares who smart they are or vice versa. They don't have to smart to love you, be there for you, make you smile or make you happy. So no I don't think that education is a viable reason for ending a long relationship. This is something a person should consider when you first start dating, now when you are in a committed relationship.

thanks for your opinion. i asked my friend about that because after 2 yrs? for a long time and now she decided that? but i respect her decision because she said shes not happy at all to be with that guy. and she told me that it doesn't mean that if you broke up with that person you don't love him anymore, just what she did. she did that because she's not happy already.

I think one's education level can be very important. Love is not always enough to keep a relationship alive. If a person doesn't have a similar education.. let's say the guy or girl is illiterate and embarrasses him/herself and others with the things he/she says. You may care for the person, but your differences are too great. After awhile annoyances will get in the way of love. It's the total package that allows for love to happen... if there are conflicting elements in the relationship, it can lead to a breakup. Love is not all consuming when there are conflicts.. lets say.. You are a saver and he is a spender... you don't drink and he likes to get drunk you are a liberal and he is totally against what you believe in.. you get the picture.

yes i got your idea. it's better to find a guy who really fits our personality. love? is important for me, that's why i should spend that love to the guy who is educated so that there will be no conflict in our relationship.::D

I say level of education does not need to be a big issue. For people with the right kind of love in their relationship, it does not matter. For most people, if the man and woman have similar education status, then it will not even be an issue. For others, where there is a significant difference, the difference in education can create some bumps in the road. Those bumps can be removed with love and patience, if the couple is willing to do so. Pride from either person can complicate things. One thing to be careful about is how you define education. Some people only measure a person by how much schooling they have had and if they have degrees from college. However, I will remind us all, that there are intelligent men and women who never went to college, but still are plenty smart to interact with those that have. That is why we do not want to measure people by the number of graduation diplomas they have.
• Philippines

yes i agree with you. there are lot of educated people out there by diplomas but in attitude was not level how educated they are. non educated people who are not finish studies has much more educated to handle people. education doesn't matter for me as long as i admire the attitude. ^_^

In my opinion it is important to an extent depending on the type of relation you want with your partner. If you are professionally driven I would think this to be important. It shows a drive for goals and getting there. If you are more accepting of people and this is not a deciding factor on how you feel about the person then no.

She obviously woke up to the fact that he was trying to hold her back and if they continued, the relationship would go nowhere. She is so lucky because most women, even intelligent ones, tend to hang on no matter what. It's only when they are empty and drained of love that is not returned that they wake up and realise that the guy is a moron.

Corinthians 13 Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy,it does not bost, it is not proud, it is not self seeking, it is no easyly angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, love does no delight in evil,bu rejoice with the truth,It always protect, always trust, always hopes, always preserver

Easy to read bible verses but its hard to apply. Because God has standards about love like what the verse said. As a child of God, He gave us wisdom how to use that love and how to apply that properly.^_^

Well we live in modern age and everybody is modern :P Everything matters if the situation is not 100% PERFECT people dont stay together :P Well ye i think people these days tend to be like that . About the education i dont think it matters but well some people might find a problem there , but for main problem to break up she must have some real hopes for him getting edducated or otherwise being throwed out . I think people these days just search for love literaly , and then when people come and say : the statisticks are that love lasts 3 years , well it last cuz you are actually not loving ... being attached or addicted to someone is not really love :) And well such things happen and people mistake it with love ;) I think if its love its love and its forever and can go beyond such simple boundries as social status education or so on :) Ok i'm a draming fairy tail right ? :D

It matters a lot. Sometimes it is the cause of misunderstanding of couples. It can matter but not absolute. True love see beyond the shortcomings of the other . The only thing is , it can be a burden to the one who understands more. patience is needed to accept the mismatch. In the first place, if you think and experience that there is a difficulty in your relationship at the very start, there's no use of continuing it. It won't last anyway. Better save the energy and resources for the one whom you think is suited for you.

balance education - i think that will be so many reason that causing a relationship broken.
maybe the character of the couple is not balance and sometime, education can be the problem.
i think, balanced education really need in a relationship.
it will make the relationship better than before.
you will not be able to communicate well with your partner when you have a good education.
you will not be able to balance yourself in the relationship.
sometime, education level is a big matters in relatonship. when a couple does'nt have a balanced education, there will be a problem in communication, it is a difficult to explain but it is real. if it is not balance, there will be a missed communication. maybe you friend has another reason why she broke up with the guy, maybe there are more problem that she has to face in her relationship. but the point, education also has an important role in keeping a good relationship each other. but it is not for all of couple. Love still the most important thing. cheers.

Education level should never be something that matters in a relationship. There seems to be more to the situation other than education level. what matters in a relationship is the connection between the two people. If I am not happy and we cannot have a good converstation then I cannot stay in a relationship. Education should never be a deciding factor for relationships.

TO be honest, I don't think that it should matter. I think that education is one of those things that shouldn't matter in a relationship. I can see how it might affect some relationships, and be important for some people, but I don't think that it should be that important.

Education may not be a key to a relationship but it plays an important factor when 2 people have to live together...it's like a vegetarian having a relationship with a meat eater...what really do you expect out of it?...just my opinion any way.

In some cases it is, but in general the only thing that should matter in a relationship is love. When you love someone, you respect and trust him/her. Those are the main ingredients to make a relationship successful.

I think in a relationship you should be compatible physically as well as mentally. And education totally changes your thinking capacity.

Education levels of both halves of the couple does matter. I've run into things like this before, even in my own personal experience. If I feel I'm way smarter than the guy I'm with I start to become unhappy because I don't feel like I can have an intelligent conversation with him because I'm smarter. Honestly, I'd prefer to date guys who are both older and smarter than me, usually meaning more educated. It just makes things easier, plus there is always that competition of who is the smartest, which, to me, is invigorating and so very refreshing.
