I recently returned to Mylot after a long break and just last night I thought I would go through my friends list to see who was still posting on here, I came acrioss many of the young students mainly from China that I love talking to as they were trying to learn English, but most of them are no longer posting and even some of their webpages are no longer. This has really worried to what has happened to them, I sincerely hope they are ok, I know things have happened in some countries I just hope my friends were not caught up in...hoping to hear from some friends from the past...thinking of you my little buddies.

don't worry lilaclady. I believe that they are all in good condition. Maybe they just stopped using it? but the fact that their webpages are no longer there is kind of suspicious. what kind of webpages are they using?

Maybe they are having a long break just like you had..
Those people may be working and have families to support, so they might not have so much time these days.. But let´s hope they will be back one day..
I had a couple of friends in the beginning that I miss, and I sometimes wonder how they are - but if I don´t know anyone who knows them, it´s not easy to find out..
Anyway, nice to have you back, lilaclady..

I am glad that you are back to Mylot. Just let you know that I am still active here:) In fact it is not easy for people to stay here for a long time, unless they do love Mylot. People come and go and it seems to be normal. Sometimes I will also miss some friends who are not active here any more.
I love China

lilac: how many of them were your friends? Because, what I say below may be true if there were few. However, if there was a large number of them, then you may discount what follows below as inapplicable.
While appreciating your concern, I would suggest not to be anxious because of other possible reasons:
# Many young people may lose interest because they find it too demanding to post regularly and it may prove immensely overwhelming
# They may find dealing with English language of the natives too daunting which may have caused low esteem
# They may have started some other activity which affords no time or facility to post
In any case, they would have done some help to people like you genuinely concerned about them by making a parting post.
I would however be happy seeing you post back with any good news you receive from them.

after my long absence from here, I only have a few friends left. But it is my own fault, I was gone so long. I will probably be on less often in December as well as it is a busy month.

In view of what's been happening in the world, I understand your concern for your friends who don't seem to be posting anymore, especially the ones from China. Let's hope some of them see this discussion and come forward to put your mind at rest!

It is good to see you back. They are so many of the newbies who join in but don't have the patience to stay on longer probably their expectations are high. Those who joined mylot for making money must have been frustrated when they don't earn as much as they expected so decide to seek for better deals somewhere else. And for those who expect to learn or improve their English could have done better if they have participated actively.

I am sorry to hear that some of your friends from China are not posting. That sure makes one wonder. I don't have a ton of friends that post anymore. So that is one of the reasons I added more. I am so enjoying my new found friends.
Hope you hear from yours soon.
Have a nice evening. :)

And so is lilac making some new friends-rather new ones like me are making friends with her. . So that we can all figure out together & learn what causes such occurrences.
Happy to say hello!

I'm sure that like a lot of people have done in the past they just got bored of MyLot and decided to move on. Also it could be that their lives just got a whole lot busier and they just don't have time for Mylot anymore. In either case I'm sure they are alright, but considering what's been going on in the world lately I can most certainly understand your concern.

I'm sure its nothing to worry about. Peoples habits change all the time... especially on the internet... perhaps they simply stopped coming online, moved locations, had a family, started a new and demanding job, went back to school etc. :) I'm sure all of them are just fine. no point in worrying about what you dont know. Have hope my dear ;)

Hi friend lilaclady I too hope your friends from before are well, it would be nice if when people leave they could make the effort to make one last post.
I can understand if must be hard for people who's first language is not English. Some of the words and grammar we use are not easy for students to understand. I think most do really well and I congratulate them. Perhaps we should bare in mind how difficult it must be for them and at least try and get the spellings right. Of course we also have a problem of English and American.
