What do you think the observers in "FRINGE" are?

Fox said that the 4th season would be more about the Observers and they said they were going to explain who they really are but until now only the 1st episode showed them.
Im really curious about who they really are, they probably are some kind of people that maintain universes balanced or something but I don't get from where they came from or how do they have those powers.
If someone knows or has a good idea please explain it :)

We've seen that there are two universes, one with the good Walter, and one with the bad Walter. I think the Observers are from a third universe, which is totally different from the two others. They seem to be from a universe that is much more advanced than the others. Because they are more advanced, they probably have a 'prime directive' which prohibits them from interfering; however, occasionally one of them does interfere to try to steer history in the correct path.

I think they're an intelligent inter-dimensional being, but they're not the creators of universe, they just understand about universe more than human. Maybe if we were a monkey, then they were the human, they observe us. Trying to understand them is like a monkey trying to understand a human. it would be beyond our brain capabilities.
