Nannies and Their Uniforms

I have had some nannies in my life but I have never told any of my nannies to wear those uniforms. This is because being a nanny is just like another job to me and there is no need to let the world know that she is a nanny. I think if the nanny don't want to wear the uniform, there is no need of forcing her to do it. Some people use it like show off to the world that I can afford two or three nannies. To some of us, it is really a turn off.

I also do not let my nannies to wear uniform- but let them wear clothes they're comfortable with.
Well- I don't have nannies now since my kids are already young teens.
but when they are babies, I did have a nanny to help me care with my kids.

Asking nannies to wear a uniform is more I suppose to ensure that what they wear while on travel is exchanged for a uniform specially when having to handle the new born. It is more for sanitary purposes rather than as you put it to 'show off'

Uniforms may not be necessary but there is no harm if they wear them.

I can follow why you are telling like this. You may be thinking that nannies may start feeling inferior. It is ok in home situation.
In offices uniforms are required to give a seriousness and make them aware of their positions in life.

The point is just imagine walking around in a mall on a Saturday evening wearing those funny uniform and pulling a trolley with babies on board. It doesn't look right while every one else is wearing casually. No one would like to be in such a position everyday when going to an outing.

I think in order the children feel more identify with the nanny who is substitut of mom while mom is working, they can wear normal clothes while they work.
The most important is how the children feel with her and how she disciplin the children when mom is not there.

I have seen a lot of nannies in uniforms and I feel they're not even comfortable wearing them. I guess you are right on that, some people give their nannies uniforms to wear just so they can show off. But if I would hire a nanny I would ask them to wear whatever they would feel comfortable wearing of. Not the sexy ones 'though.

For my thought wearing of uniforms just like sign of slavery
and let them choose which clothes they prefer to wear.

I don't really mine if my nanny wore a uniform, but never had one though. But seeing other people walking around and 2 or 3 nannies following them around in their uniforms somewhat gives me an impression that they are a show off.
