What do you usually do when you're sad and depressed?

Hello, everyone? How are you feeling right now?
If I'll be asked, I should say, I am not okay.. I have so much in mind right now.. Responsibilities.. My family.. Work.. Exam.. I feel depressed. I am so sad. I have no one to talk to. My boyfriend is here but I don't feel expressing what I am truly feeling at the moment. I am just pretending that I am okay.
How would you overcome your depression and sadness? I should for yours because it might help me. Right now, I am just playing songs that can emotionally uplift me. Or encourage me in some ways.

If I feel that I've been down for days already, I know I have to go unwind or else I would go insane :) What I do is to spend the day with a friend I can confide with, or watch a funny movie cause I believe laughter is the best medicine, or go some place where I can relax and have fun.
It's hard to be depressed and stressed because of so many things to think of, but if you let yourself be that way for a long time, you might compromise your health. So be happy, be healthy!

I am trying my best to change my emotion. Yeah.. I would agree with you that watching a funny movie may change the mood but after that, personally, I still can't help but think back of things. I hope I can overcome this. I don't like this feeling of sadness inside. It's slowly killing me inside.

No, you can't change your emotion on your own. You can't be happy on your own. You need others to be happy. Whatever happened in the past that is making you feel depressed, you must not dwell on that but move on. Find and do interesting things that you know you'll enjoy. The best thing to do is pray and cast all your worries, or depression to HIM. Cheers!

Well, when I'm depressed I just listen to some music I like or do some exercise or something that will keep my mind busy so I don't think about things that depress me. Or try to find some funny videos on Youtube, like some stand up comics or whatever usually makes you laugh, depends on the persons sense of humour. Even if you don't laugh at it at the moment, it will make you feel better, I'm sure. Hold on, the whole MyLot is here with you :)

Hi sis?? Why are feel sad?? Hope things is going right after this three hours. If you feel depressed go and look for a comedy series to watch or anything that will make you laugh.I like to do it that way whenever I feel gloom and depressed. The laughter will make me feel less depressed. Right now I am in a good mood as I am watching some comedy series. Really make me feel less tensed.Listen to the music in also one of the way to get rid the sadness but make sure you are not listening to the sad song as it will make you more sad~(^^)

You still can contact your friends via social networking site like facebook right or text or call them. However if you still fell miserable then don't hesitate to share it with us here as I know not everything we can share with close people like boyfriend or family..(^^)

What I am doing right now is just browse the internet so that I will have something to keep my mind busy. Thank you for your response. Somehow, I am able to divert my loneliness to something. I have no one here to talk to. I live with my boyfriend but I can't seem to tell him that there are things that are bothering me. I miss my friends whom I can talk to and get along with whenever I'm sad and depressed. Thanks to mylot especially the lotters who are very willing to share there point of views. At least even though I am not talking to someone but knowing that there are people who responses on you makes me feel better.

I too have been feeling sad and depressed a lot lately. There is a lot going on in my life right now that is making me really depressed. For me I have tried to keep busy. I don't want to allow my mind to get overloaded to where I feel I can't really handle the situation. I think that listening to positive music helps as well. If you can perhaps spend time with family and friends who encourage you. Right now I feel like their isn't too many people I could talk to because they are too close to my family to be able to give unbiased advice. So that makes it harder on me. Maybe even if you are able to set aside money for savings could help you feel better. Savings helps us not to feel overwhelmed by financial anxieties. I really hope that soon things will calm down for you and that you will be able to be happy again.

Hello, there..
Life is really full of problems.,. It is just up to us how to handle such problems.,. As for now, I am not thinking of it much because it will just give me depression and sadness. I just thought of all the bad things that's going on with my life as a test for me to become stronger. Emotionally and physically. I just hope, I can manage everything that will happen in my life.

I agree life is definitely full of problems. And unfortunately we are getting a lot of them. I hope that your situation improves for the better soon. I think I have a while to go before anything drastically good changes for me. As a lot of my troubles are the result of others actions and I don't think they are going to change anytime soon. So I have to continually try and adjust even when I don't want. Don't you feel tired when you feel like your the only one who is doing the work, the only one who is trying to make things better? I know i do. I hope you don't have to face any more hardships yet, as dealing with the ones you have got is enough. We really can only handle so much.

I mostly used to go for a long sleep when I too sad. Sleeping makes me to forget from the sadness and it brings us to the world of peace.

I'm very bad in dealing with depression and sadness. I keep it all inside me and I don't share anything with my family or friends. I keep it inside me until it all goes away. I just wallow up with negative emotions until I'm faced with something that makes me forget about it. Sometimes I also listen to songs that can uplift my mood, sometimes I watch movies or dramas. Sometimes I interact more with friends or co-workers but I don't let it all out. I know it's unhealthy but that's me. ^^
Anyway, I hope you're feeling much better now. We should all lighten up especially in this time of year. Christmas is coming!

As a therapist and Zen practitioner, with depression the comes without apparent reason is never something I ignor as there is usually some deeper (subconscious) reason why it is happening. Meditation is one of the most powerful processes that can be used to get to the bottom of it, especially if it happens frequently. But if it is particularly strong and persistent, then it is best to get help with it from a doctor or qualified therapist.
If you know why you are depressed, for instance, something tragic has happened in life, then meditation can still help you to terms with it. Otherwise, uplifting things like musice etc, can work very well, if you know why you have become depressed. _Derek

Hmmm.. I think, I don't have to go to a therapist. By sharing my feelings to others such like this one in mylot, it gives me a nice feeling.,. It helps me overcome my depression. Especially when I read responses. I feel important and it encourages me taking away my depressive feelings. Mylot is one of my outlets to overcome my loneliness..

In this situation, I try to do something that I normally enjoy doing. I might try reading a book, watching a movie, going for a walk, spending time online, or something like that. All of which are things that I enjoy doing. It does help me feel better, when I'm feeling sad or depressed or something to that effect.

Hi jdex: First I try to deal with this feeling all by myself because I don't want to make people feel worried about me. Sometimes I just need to do a relaxing activity, do some yoga or eat. Sometimes writing how I feel and what makes me feel worried works and also try not to think too much about the things I can change. Finally I talk to a friend looking for advice or I mylot and share my thoughts with you guys

There came a time in my life that i was so depressed and i had no one to share it with except mylot and my diary. What i did was listen to Joyce Meyer podcast and i felt better then. I tried to pray hard for God to give me strength to over come that depression and yeah it worked for me.
I hope that you'll find your own way to get over it. One way that could really take my thoughts away from depression is through chatting with friends on my phone. They are not locals of my place but rather they are from different countries and they do entertain me a lot.

Well, I suffer from massive depression myself. I understand talking to someone close to you does not always help, because sometimes they just do to understand. Talking to a stranger sometimes helps more because they are not biased. I go to therapy and I am trying real hard to remove this depression. But it takes time. If you're depressed over what I would consider simple things, then you might just need a change of scenery for a while, sort of like a recharge. But when your depression is deep rooted, then thats a totally different story.

Well, first of all I hope that you can find ways to sooth your feelings. I'm also depressed, disappointed, sad, hopeless and lonely at most of the time. This is mainly caused by broken family, family business and other hundreds of unsuccessful attempts in doing lots of things including making things right.
I tend to listens to relaxing music such as those of music box. These music makes me felt warm and not lonely besides comforting my feelings. While listening to such music, I would either sleep or play MMORPGs such as Fly For Fun. The combination of these two can fully occupy me and let me forget about those sad stuff.
Of course, another way of comforting myself is to watch dramas and anime. They have a lot of relationships content and warm story line that almost like a gateway to me. As if I'm one of the characters and I get loved, cherished and success in many things. Although they are not real, they did enriches my life and give me strength to continue the journey of life which is full of problems.

I am now finding ways to comfort myself.. One thing I am doing is sharing what I am feeling here in mylot because I have no one to turn to. At the same time, I am listening to music so that my mind will keep busy.

I know what you feel coz i always been there and the feelings is not comfortable with anything i wanted to do. As of now let just pass the feelings we all know that sometimes we feel emotional and so on, especially if our period is near. Just let you rest and then try to move your body if you feel alright, eat and dance,,just move and dont think things that make you weak or cause of your sadness. Because as we know that sadness lead to depression. You know what i did is let my feelings expressed and if i feel tired i sleep then try to eat. I dont want to listen to sad music anything that reminds me of my sadness. Then if i feel i am okay that is my starting point to think of positive that makes me happy for the meantime and i put that always into practice just to immune my feelings. It's really hard to defeat depressions and sadness because our enemy no.1 is ourselves. So try to convince yourself to change into positive thinking. Only you can help on your own. This is what i did and i only share it to you just to pick a little things that can help you. TRy to be happy,,

For me just prayed it to Jehovah God called him in your prayer and as him to examine your heart and ask also that he cured your feeling to not bored it is best in you to study what the bible really teach.

When i am troubled , i would usually hurry home from work. Since husband will be coming home much later, i have the bedroom to myself.
I would cry and cry . Then once i am done , i would pray and tell God my troubles. I seem like crazy, because i would talk to Him as if he is there in front of me. I would cry out to him. Then, i will feel okay and try to think of how that trouble could be solved and offer it to God for him to do the rest.
I will then, watch my favorite TV show and eat a fruit or a chocolate while watching it.

When you feel sad and depressed , i suggest watch some funny videos and comedy clips in the movies. When i am saying this some may not feel it ok. But when we do this we will get laughed automatically and will get a relief for sure. And in order to avoid such depressed feelings , do exercise / workout regularly. Its proven that it will increase the blood cycling to all pars of our body and we will always feel fresh mind. It will also decrease the chance of having diseases.

when i'm sad or depressed i tend to eat a lot. i crave for foods... i crave about anything. foods really boost up my mood and it's very effective for me. other than eating i just sleep and sometimes go to the mall for window shopping.

Depression... Sadness...These frighten me a lot specially with my size 'coz for me these mean "Food." Every time I'm depressed or sad, I usually eat for it helps me forget my problems momentarily. After that, I'll go for a walk embracing myself and the reason of my sadness, assessing myself, weighing things out and find ways how to overcome it. If despite all those things I'm not yet relieved, that's the time I'll start pouring and sharing everything to my trusted friends again and again. This is one thing i've learned every time i'm venting, it lightens up my feelings... Well, all of us do have different ways of coping at different rate. What's important is we're not soaking at the corner with our problems, instead we're finding ways to get back into our normal self and see again the beauty of life... Life is always like that....
