Yes, they are absolutely necessary. They can save lives. You should wear them all ways no matter what speed you are travelling (the person who hits you may be going at a great speed so it won't matter if you are going slow - the damage could be serious).
Parents - please always put your child in the appropriate child restraint (for them sometimes a seltbelt isnt' enough). Watch this and you will see what I mean....

Crazy if you don't use a belt.

seat belts are not just necessary but are very essential.to answer your question, yes! always.can you imagine going at 110 mph without a seat belt and crashing into a barrier.what will happen if you were not wearing a seat belot at the time of impact.you will go through the windscreen!thats why seat belts are mandatory or should be made mandatory!

I wear my seat belts and I put them on the kids. My fiance don't always wear his. But we got in a bad accident and I think the belts really kept us from getting hurt.

It shouldnt be necessary. I mean if you run a light and hit a deisal truck and cause backups on the highway you most likely will be ejeckted through the windshield into a field. At that point you can make the call if you want to claim responsability and go back or pretend to be a spectater. If you strap yourself to the seat, your busted...

Absolutely, I wear them. I feel strange if I drive even a few feet without it. And it's become so ingrained that I don't even think about it anymore.
It probably has something to do with my accident. It was spectacular.
I was driving down a road (with my seatbelt on) and I was falling asleep. Somehow I made it through some curvy parts but then ...
I remember hearing a scraping or grinding sound, but there's no visual information in my memory. A pause, and I woke up a second time with water up to my knees and the sound of more water pouring in. I eventually climbed out the window and saw people running toward me; they told me they had expected to see a corpse behind the wheel. Because ...
My car had crossed to the left side of the road, ran up against the guardrail for 72 feet, then turned sharply to the right. It rolled twice, then flipped end over end twice, flew over a guardrail, a mailbox and a restaurant sign, to land rear-windshield first on a concrete culvert, then fall rightside up in a small creek.
I sustained a small gash on my head (from when the frame caved in and knocked me unconscious) that required four staples. I can't even imagine what I would have looked like if I hadn't been wearing my seatbelt.
So, are they necessary? I tend to think so. You never go out thinking that you'll get into an accident and you can't evade every single thing that heads your way (including sleep deprivation). It's good to have something strapping you in.

I think seat belts should be worn all the time. It is unsafe without them. I have to remind my husband all the time to put his on. If I don't remind him the kids do! They also have an uncle that can't seem to remember to put his on.

Nope just as many people die with them as without them car wrecks are nasty sometimes it dose not matter if you have them on or not....if the car catches fire after a wreck and the seat belt is jamed your going to burn up. I always wear one because of the stupid laws that invade our human rights but I make sure I have something to cut if off also!

They save lives. The shoulder or racing style seatbelts are worthwhile, ones that go across the lap less so. However, if there was a lap style seat belt I still wear it :)

Yes i do use seat belts in car and it is also necessary as it can save our life in case of accidents. Also it is helping me to take judgement while driving my car.

I know that I would not have been alive, and the three people in the car i crashed into three years ago wouldn't have either, if we havn't had seat belts. That's enough for me.
You may think that you are the perfect driver, but you never know who's driving the car you're meeting! - It might be me, a really good driver with years of experience who drives daily at work, mile after mile, hour after hour, who makes a tiny mistake making an enormous difference!

seat bells save lives! that is a proven fact, and i haven't met that person yet who doesn want to live. most think that the seat belt is useles but i don't have any problem at all to wear it even on my shortest trips with the car.
