I know there are people here who have mentioned doing things like this in the past, but have not seen anything posted in here lately, so was wondering if there is anyone doing these? Have you been having much success with them? What type item are you finding to sell the Best right now?
Is this something you made, or with a company? I know around here there are more and more shows with Home Business people being allowed in and in a lot of ways I feel that is a definate plus. But maybe you make all your items, and you have something that really does well.
So what is your best Seller? What type of shows do you have the Best success with? What tips would you offer to someone else wanting to do these? Do you enjoy and usually come out ahead?
I have done many types of shows and events over the yrs. Sometimes I have done really well, and other times just barely making anything. The biggest issue now I feel is the economy. I am getting ready to do another one this weekend even, and planning on having my Jerky and some crocheted items that I have made and hoping for the Best. I really enjoy being out there with the public like this, and really wish it could pay off enough financially so this could be my only main source of income.

I enjoy crocheting items and selling them, and have been doing so on and off for yrs. Wish I could find more people to buy them though. I have no problem usually with close friends, but when I go to shows either it is the wrong time of yr. for scarves, etc. or there is a lot of competition on these.

It is a lot of work to get enough stuff together for a show, especially if you are doing Craft type items. And then to think about if your item is unique enough to gain enough attention to sell, as well as the price. Too many people when they do these shows they all do the same type of thing and so it means unless you are unique it is a hard sell, but worth the thought of trying.

Yes, it is a lot of work doing these. Most of the time I am able to show and try and sell some of my Crocheted items with the Jerky from my Jerky business. The last one I just recently did there were a lot of people with crocheted items so no one really looked at the items I made.

I did the holiday show out at our mall and it was a bust so to speak. There were two other craft shows going on the same day...and another show with what they called the fabulous five....they are like tastfull simple, stampin up, etc. So it put a big crimp in ours. Next year I will pass on doing it. I had a wonderful fall show...but the holiday one I made money but not much more then my booth rental..several didn't make their rental.

I know all about doing Shows that you do not make your Space back, and I have seen what it is like to do a show where you have a lot of competition. Personally that is probably why I am glad I do the Jerky Business, and glad most other companies never get into this for competition. The last show I had crocheted items plus the Jerky and did nothing on anything but the Jerky. I did OK so I would do it again.

I haven't done anything crafty for the holiday to sell but I just saw something on the news about a woman that started her own business doing ornaments. I would love to try and do some unique hand painted ornaments! She did personalized ones..maybe I would have some ornaments and then hand paint a name on them while they were standing there.

Yes, having the time to try and do things that you know would always make you some extra money, especially when it comes to Crafts and something handmade has always been my wish. But finding enough people interested in wanting to buy them in order to help keep it successful is the issue. But that does sound like something interesting to try.
