I guess Occupy LA doesn't practice the "Think Green" Preaching....

30 tons of garbage were left behind by the "Greenies" of Occupy LA. 30 tons of litter left by people who would have anyone else arrested for leaving so much as a coke bottle on a park bench.
The Occupy Movement is great at pointing fingers, but when will they EVER live up to the trash they chant?
If this is what they think "Democracy Looks Like" no wonder they loathe it!! lol

My first reaction upon reading the story was surprise at how supposedly disadvantaged people would leave behind valuables like CDs, clothing, tents, furniture and cell phones. They must have a lot more money than me and the people I associate with!
And defacing the structure around the fountain is criminal and just serves to emphasize the ignorance of these people--they are defacing their own property! They do not understand that it's their money they are wasting, their property they're destroying. Their ignorance is truly astounding, I would expect that level of ignorance in a 16 year old maybe but not in adults. Willful ignorance is the pinnacle of voluntary slavery.

While the defacing is childish I do have to defend them a little as far as the litter goes. Being forcefully evicted didn't exactly give them time to pack up. That litter may be all the personal belongings they had & they've been forced to leave them behind.

Ok, I'll give you that part, Uath, but what about all the trash?

That's why city ordinances require permits and those permits require groups to have the proper amount of trash cans and/or dumpsters. Unfortunately, OWS groups have been above the law and been allowed to "occupy" without permits or without obeying the rules in those permits.

The entire "occupation" has been a show of self-indulgence, mean-spiritednesss and mob mentality. They made no effort to make sure that those in the streets and parks with them actually understood their goals (whatever they are) but instead, the mobs were full of indolent youth, taking advantage of the free food and clothes and treating it all like a big block party. While they railed against greed and bemoaned the plight of the poor, they displaced the homeless in the streets, parks and the shelters, even calling the police on them when they managed to infiltrate the camps. It is not the least bit surprising that they had no compunction about causing damage to public property. They seem to think that means it is their property, but in truth, it belongs to everyone in the community - and they destroyed more than their share.

Good comment. I tend to agree with this. It seemed that the occupiers used the occupation as some sort of self-catharsis and self-indulgence. It seemed to me that it was more important to them to be "seen" as caring or being concerned rather than "actually" being concerned.
And as for the whole "Green" debacle, same thing with the "So-Cal" Prius set. More important to be seen driving the damn thing even though there are other cars that are more fuel efficient, and have a lower over all impact on the environment.

Things that people would never do as an individual they feel free to do as a part of a mob. I am not at all surprised.
