Why most of myloters dont display their real picture as profile photo?

I don't use a real photo of myself is simple. I don't want anyone to see what I look like! I do want some secrecy and privacy here on Mylot. I have alot of friends here who don't use thier own photo. I think they don't for the reason's I do.

Just like what u just mentioned about photo privacy, most of the time that is the reason why people are hesitant to use their real photo as their profile, but on the other hand it is also reasonable to use real photo on profiles at least u will get to see the real person that u are conversing with even just through a picture.

did it ever dawn on anyone here we are not all well to do and do not all have digital cameras. well i am not well off and no I dont have a photo as I do not have a digital camera and i am elderely living in a retirement center. so I use graphics as I love being creatived and making something pretty. so no I do not have my own picture there go to Patsie Hatley in face book as I am the one with the cane and the long white hair in my profile picture the other one is lori dumblonde dizzy user.so do not scold me as I ha ve good reason for not having photo. leave it alone please.

There must an explanation behind their action and surely everyone have reason to be doing it. As we all know from beginning that mylot is not really social networking site such as Facebook, but it's more of paying site. This would be becoming the reasons as to why people in myLoter don't display their real photo. I was quite sure that other myLoter know how this site really work out. I am not really into socializing but I am more concentrated on making money and socializing as well.

I chose to use an avatar (this time they are the children of my sister-in-law) , instead of using my real picture so that i can still have my privacy. There are discussions that are sensitive that i think it is better that my face will not be revealed. I guess, we sometimes like to be anonymous when we reveal too much of ourselves in some discussions. That way, i get to express myself freely.

I can give you my reason and I think many of us here hold this reason as well . As most of us are not using our real name we also prefer to hide our real pictures in order to hide our identities . In this way we feel free to discuss whatever comes to our mind and not easily being recognized by friends and acquaintances who might be here also . I personally feel myLot is a community where I can share my inner feelings and express my thoughts freely without any hesitation . Things which I would not have been able to express in the real world . Another reason is also there and that is we must be careful in the virtual world we don't know with whom we are interacting . The community is so big and I don't think it would be proper to let known our real being . Nice topic

Hi, I have put up the picture of my best buddy in this whole wide world, ( Mac ), as my profile image. I like him to be a part of everything I do because as far as I'm concerned he is not just another cat - he's a blessing in disguise. I think people simply do not want to share their own pictures for security reasons. The web is a world of maya and anything can happen.

I'm just too scary , i cant link my picture to my account because its hard , when i see it i get terrified . But well anyway , i dont really like people to judge me by my look . I mean they can judge my opinion and the things i say , but i don't think to start an online friendship you need to "boom" your picture everywhere . I personally dont use mi picture because i know its not going to be any different the not using it :)

For me it's a matter of privacy. I rather not have a bunch of strangers knowing what I look like. You have to be careful when it comes to anything online, now more then ever. It's better to be safe then sorry I think.

Landscape Oil Canvas Painting and Pastels (Oil Painting) Avatar I have lots of talents.... i love to Swim but no matter what practice i did, water doesn't like me, i am a sinker instead of swimmer i love to play guitar and electric organ guitar, but i can't afford because i have no money to buy an organ guitar and traditional guitar no matter what practice i did but guitar doesn't like me note: whatever Avatar will we put, it reflects the personality and our talents... misinterpretation to the others but whenever i see that avatar of other members, i seem to understand on which talent he or she is involved....

I am not trying to hide about myself if I use a cartoon for my profile picture. I am just shy. But don't worry. Since you mentioned about this I will change my profile picture if I already have a decent picture.

What are the reasons? - Privacy - Security - Shy Lol Mylot is kind of online forum. And actually, it's a normal thing to put another picture as your avatar on every online forums.

Hello grace. Ever since I started appearing on the web, I have always used my real photo. In fact changed to a gravatar only about 2 months' back. I was always fancied by the caricature or characterization people use to represent themselves. Some of them are really creative & great. It occurred to me too recently that I must have a gravatar representing certain attributes of mine. I am not a very good artist nor did I want to pay for creation of one. So, with available resources & ideas, I have created the present one.

Some like to preserve their anonymity in the internet but I have chosen to put my own picture because I understand your point that it is better to discuss issues with someone you have an idea of.I have had the unfortunate experience in one website where I inadvertently referred to a "he" as a"she". The user name confused me into thinking that I was discussing the issue with a female.Actually, he corrected my error but I was somewhat embarrassed by my mistake.What you see in the picture is the real me.

I have my real photo as my profile picture on My Lot. This is important to me because it shows who I am. I might not have a picture because I am poor now at knowing how to upload a picture online. I wouldn't ever have a picture that shows something else like an animal but some people on My Lot do. It might be their favorite animal or they might be showing advanced computer skills with a very fancy sort of picture. I like to make friends with other people on wonderful My Lot. I like to see friend's pictures but some of my friends prefer a picture of something else. Doing that isn't a problem for me. I understand secrecy and I know many are very private.

I am shy thats why i dont want to use my photo. I dont mind really how the photo use here in MyLot cause i can a little know the person by the words/topics/language they use. Some also use celebrity photo and thats very funny to me
