Christmas is a special time of year. We celebrate Christ's birth, remembering God's gift of love to the world. What are some special traditions that you or your family have as part of celebrating Christmas?

Yes it is better to give then to recieve. I don't what it is about giving that puts a smile on a persons face but it seems to make things brighter to see someone so happy about something that thy know thy can not afford bit dream about. To see then so grateful for that gift.

during Christmas we always have a small gathering. we prepare food during the day then share it on the Christmas eve. watch some fireworks and enjoy the rest of the night. we then ask our relatives to visit our house or we do the visiting to them. Christmas is indeed a happy season for our family.

Of course we love Christmas Eve worship service. It reminds us of all the sacrifices God has made for us and how much he loves us, in order to make those sacrifices. We also have one main shopping day as a family (and several smaller ones too) where we shop for the day and then have a nice dinner out.

It is always the tradition of my family, to prepare foods for Christmas eve, We would eat them, when the clock strikes midnight. We would open our gifts after and have some chatting and joking. After a while we will go to sleep. On Christmas day, we go to church at 8am. Then go shopping and eat out for lunch. In the afternoon, we will have a small party in celebration of my daughter's birthday.

We go to "simbang gabi" (don't know the english translation) every early morning a few days before christmas day. It's a mass conducted early morning everyday I think 12 days before christmas. Not really sure. It's a tradition that we do but it's been a year or 2 which I wasn't able to participate due work. ON christmas eve, we eat a bountiful dinner. and go to sleep and wake up 12 midnight due to noise outside our house. Because from where I live, it's illegal to use fireworks, so the people make loud noises.

Well, things have changed a lot since I was growing up to what I look for now as a middle aged adult. I can remember growing up usually having my family read the manger story from the Bible but never taking it to heart. Now Christmas for me is remembering Jesus and his birth and all he has done for me. I know it is because of him our life is based, and to think about what he had to do for us to have what we have makes life more worth while.

Christmas breakfast. My mother had a very difficult time recovering from childbirth (me!) in 1971, so my parents began having Christmas breakfast for my father's side of the family that year. That tradition continued until 2007, the last year my father was in New Jersey (where we lived), with what was left of our family, and my father, daughter and I until 2008 (his last Christmas). I've not felt like celebrating Christmas until last year, and that was because of my new boyfriend (now fiance). This year will be my first attempt to have Christmas breakfast--we're inviting his brother and nephew, and I'm hoping my daughter can come.

We have several... There is the 12 days of Christmas candy cane count down, cocoa with candy canes in it on Christmas eve, and waffles with strawberries and whipped cream on Christmas morning. I think my kids favorite is the little tree in their bedrooms that Santa leaves a small special gift for them under, buys Mom and Dad 5 extra minutes of sleep.

Personally to be perfectly honest with you we don't have many traditions in my family. My family is small and this year my brother-in-law just recently moved to California so we are one more person short this year. We normally have a small dinner in the house, on Christmas Eve night and on Christmas Day wake up really early my kids have their fun opening their presents and that alone makes my entire day followed by a nice big breakfast.

Well Polish people celebrate Christmas differently from people from UK or US. The most important day for us is Christmas Eve. We have big supper. On the table should be 12 traditional dishes mostly made from fish and vegetables. WE don't eat meat that day.. We also share kind of wafel called Oplatek. Also we open the present on Christmas Eve. We sing Christmas carols. Later we go to church for Midnight Christmas mass. We try to follow tradition even if we live in other countries like me. Next days are less important. We visit friends and families. Next day we can eat meat dishes.

We put the tree up together and go through a ton of old ornaments that they made when they were children. They love to go through them and say stuff like...look how little I was...or oh..I remember making that one. It is like a walk down memory lane..lol.

In my family our Christmas tradition is to get together. We don't on Christmas eve or DAy. That is for the inlaws. I am not married but my siblings are and two of my nephews are. So we always plan to get together some other time. This year it will be December 31,2011.It usually ends up at one of my brother's homes.

My husband and I will be opening one gift on Christmas Eve (we will do this after my sister's children go to bed). This year I will be here with my parents, my brother, my sister and her four kids and I am sure they will be up very early in the morning. Prior to Christmas I will be making a few homemmade gifts and also baking fudge (peanut butter and chocolate). I will also make a couple of kinds of cookies to give as gifts.

We celebrate Christmas by going to the church and giving gifts to our godchildren, friends and families. On Christmas day itself, kids will be outside and roaming to knock on their godparents home dressed up beautifully to ask for blessings and godparents will hand out their gifts to them.
