Furious over Christmas Bonus

My mother-in-law posted on facebook today that the oil field company she works for gave out their Christmas bonuses today. She does all the payroll so she knows how much each person got.
She said that one of the employees was pissed off because he didn't think his Christmas bonus was enough and that he was worth more than that. He then tore it up and threw it into the bosses face!
Needless to say he lost his job after that. But can you imagine? I'd be happy to get any kind of bonus even if its $25. She said it was a pretty good amount too! Some people never cease to amaze me

ah, that complainant deserved what he got. how could he be so ungrateful? and why would he think he was worth more than that? he should have just taken it and still have his job. because of what he did, then he wouldn't get any more money at all from the company. what a waste. -tsk- -tsk-

I Agree! I mean heck! I would have been happy with $10, and knowing the oil field company he works for the check was probably at least a few hundred dollars. He should have taken it and just BIT his tongue.

That is quite good for their company! At least they got one less of a complainer working for them which will surely make things easier for them in the long run. That employee acted foolishly and unprofessionally. He should have mailed a letter instead if he got any questions and concerns in the first place and not did a scandalous act that cost him his job. I really can't understand such kind of people too. They are really out of their mind.

I agree! He is no longer working with them and able to complain and what not. I can not believe that ANYONE would act that way. I mean seriously! He could have went about it in a totally different fashion.

I agree that the person who was silly enough to tear up his bonus check and throw it in his boss's face was probably not a fit person to be employed by that company.
I would also quietly warn your MIL that Facebook is NOT a private place at all. Facebook do actually (at the moment) store EVERYTHING that you post or read, EVEN IF YOU SUBSEQUENTLY DELETE IT. It is NOT a safe place to rant about and give details of things which happen in the company you work for. Also, you cannot know which of your friends may share (even quite innocently) something that you wrote with their friends ... and you cannot easily stop them doing so. It has happened more than once that a seemingly innocent post has 'blown up' in someone's face. Please let your MIL know this!

Let the guy throw that check in my face please i'm begging. Being a saver I could really make good use of any extra cash. And besides that I am sure he never thought of maybe donating his tiny? bonus to a charity drive? or maybe stuff his "tiny" amount of cash in a safe place just in case he has an emergency!!! What the heck is wrong with him? He must live under a rich rock to not know about the hunger in households, the budget cuts around every corner :-( I hope by now her not only regrets but sees where he was compared to where he is at this moment in time!

Probably not! I thought he was crazy and stupid to do this! I was going GEEZ I just got laid off and I could have used extra money like that. What was he thinking? Guess he was just having a bad day... that got worse when he got fired.

That was a very extreme reaction, and losing his job right before Christmas is terrible. If he acts like that, then he should just be glad got any bonus to begin with. Exspecially since some people don't even get a bonus. My aunt, who also does payroll, is an example of this. (She was so mad that she had to sit there and write out thousands of dollars of bonuses to everyone but herself. And considering her boss will suddenly decide she has too much to do and won't let her take off early on the Friday she asked for three weeks ago, you'd think she'd get a nice one.)

Oh wow! I'd be super mad if I was her as well. That's crazy that everyone else gets one but not her. Wonder what his reasoning is behind that?
