Well guys, I couldn't resist putting in a word on this topic. I know many of you are not going to agree with me on this one, but I think patriotism is love for the country, to be proud about belonging to it and being passionate about it.
I'm sure you'll agree with me so far. But I believe that patriotism also means trying to do something for the country- over and above just paying your taxes that is. How many of us really try and improve things? Let's fact it guys, our patriotism invariably becomes jingoism. I believe that if we really want to do something for our country, we have to start admitting its shortcomings and try to overcome it.
True, all of us can't get into politics, but there are so many things we can do. Look at the way we litter our cities, the total lack of discipline, the complete lack of civic sense. What we can do is try and set an example ourselves. True it may not bring about an overnight change, but we can inspire many others who in turn can inspire others. Any change is necessarily slow, but we could try and at least do something from our end at the grass root level.
