This is what i soooo dread... Everyone is forced to dance and it is such a challenge for me because i have 2 left feet. Do you have this in your office as well? Dont you hate it? I know it only comes once a year but eeewwwrrr i really dont like it. I just join in for the sake of teamwork. Funny thing about this is that some office people even hire professional choreographers to teach them how to dance. Now, is that really practical or what? I hope i dont sound like a killjoy to anyone in here.

Reminds me of a team-building weekend I went to once. We were at a show one evening and one of the professional dancers dragged me up. Now, I love dancing on my own terms but this was the macarena of all things. Me? Not a clue. I remember one of my team-mates asking what happened and why I didn't know the dance. My answer: "Because I run the CRM for two-thirds of the world, I'm the go-to guy for business intelligence for the same people, I'm on call 24/7 and it's one of the stupidest dances ever invented. Good enough?" The next time someone tried to drag me up to dance, I just glared at them and they went away.

Eeewwwrrr!! Macarena! That is included in our group presentation. The theme is 80-90s! Apart from that, we were also taught Vogue, Fame, Stars, Ruggin Muffin Girl and the worst (much worse than Macarena eeewwwrr) ... Supersonic! hahahahah! I cant believe i had to do this. I foresee another 5 minutes of humiliation in my whole life.

i used to really be a "kill joy" when it comes to things like this. however just recently i am more open to joining activities because i realized that it can be so much fun. :D i mean, we have also started the same in our company and well our division has a contest for decorations in the location and there are 5 groups competing, then we also have presentations on the party itself and everyone would even dress up for a costume! :D

We don't have to dance at our Christmas parties :) Well for the department, we just go out to lunch one day and exchange funny gifts and that's it. It's fun and relaxing and we don't have to dance! Then the company will throw a party sometimes but it's a family party with lots of stuff for kids to do - so again no dancing. That is silly that people would hire pros to teach them to dance! Is that even necessary? Why do people have to dance? Can't you just go to the party and have a good time without dancing?

I have one coming up soon too. I hate them because you do not want to look stupid in front of your boss or co-workers. I just stay with a small group and wait til all the prizes are given out before leaving. Last time I won an Ipod so I have to go - otherwise I would miss the chance to win something.

I haven't experienced it yet because I am new to the institution I work now. But they already informed new staffs that we are to participate on the x-mas party. Aside from that we are obliged to attend on a certain attire, which is a problem to some of us. My mind would say, they are so impractical. I just ignore them sometimes, I guess it's much better to do that than to think of it.

In our Finance Group Christmas Party, we always have a competition every year and our department are the hall of famer because we always won in any category that they wish. If you would ask me if I am one of the performer, absolutely not... but I have special task, to take care of the needs of the performers like their costume, food, and funds. For the last years, we have a theme in each year like the Bagets night, Hawaiian night, Pajama Christmas and the last year is Imitators night. It is fun because the creativity of each group really shows and brainstorming was great. Sometimes they would ask to have a Christmas Carolers or a choir, or a dance presentation. This year they are thinking of a song and dance number with title "sayaw mo, kanta mo." But unfortunately, today, it was announced that it is cancelled. We will just have a new year countdown party. We have to cut on costs and it is good anyway because they are asking me a contribution of Php 500.00 and that would be a lot considering we still have a departments' party and the SBMA party.

Oh, same here.. I hate to be involved in presentations.. Especially in dancing. I am no good in dancing. I am also required to present this coming Christmas party and to my dislike, I haven't attended any one session and the party is fast approaching. Oh, God.. I hope the steppings are not so hard. I will just place myself at the back of the group as long as they see me perform for a while, I think it's fine. Hahahaha

We do have group or department presentations too but we just choreograph our dance through suggestions of each members and get some steps in the Youtube.

Lol, this sounds fun, NOT! Haha. I would be in the same boat as you. This would terrify me beyond belief. Honestly I would not even want to go. But I do believe that you dont have to go as far as hiring your own personal coreographer to teach you how to dance for such a thing. The whole idea is to just bring the office closer together and make everyone feel like a family. If you want to practice then I guess just practice at home or something but I wouldnt fret too much. This is probably nerve racking for alot of people that you work with. Just try to have as much fun as possible.
