I'm now 4th year Civil Engineering student. Well, I can say this is tough times no. I have no time to watch T.V. NO time for social life , just facebook, ym and email because of project related concerns. Now, I'm writing here on mylot just to relax a bit.
I have pending earthquake designs for 10-story building. Reports. Roadmap for transportation engineering (one of my subjects too). Plates that I have to draw, architectural plans. etc.
waaaahhh. . I wish to master all my subjects. . but I'm a student, supreme student leader of the whole university, student leader of minor groups, working student, community freeworker, freelance model,a runner, a business woman and a daughter. I really need lots of time in a day.
My road to successful Civil Engineering is really rocky and challenging, but I still chose to travel and walk on it. I'm happy and enjoying everything. I just pray that the Lord will always help me. In terms of many things that He and Me only know.
Is there any engineering students here? how do you manage your time and lots of things too? without sacrificing any of your hobbies, social life and other involvements?
Or if you are taking or graduated from different course, how can you manage time? and any tips please. I'm glad hearing lots of ideas and happy and encouraging stories.
Happy mylotting everyone.
P.S. :)
I have 1 more year and I'll be graduating from college (I pray not to fail any of my subject or future subject)
Then board exam.
So excited. How bout you? did you feel the same way too?

usually, 1st year of college is mostly general subjects. Not like ,when you reach 3rd,4th ,5th year. that's the time u can say, woooww. . this is it, i can say it is difficult than id ever thought it could be.
A lot of freshmen say that 1st yr of college is tough days for them, cuz, that is adjusting days. Adopting what's in college. Very different from the usual playful life of highschool.
They say math is a difficult subject, but not for engineering. When you say, u want to be an engineer then, u have to accept that u will love math too. If you keep on telling yourself that "I hate MATH" probably it will hate u too in return. So starting today u should love math. Enjoy every problem solving.
Math is not memorization of formula. Bear that in mind. It is Mastering and familiarization. Meaning in order for u to master it, u have to practice. Solve and solve, until ul find yourself comfortable with any kinds of problem laid to you. Formula will easily comes out from your mind even without u thinking it.
Love math. Enjoy it. Then soon, it will love you too. :)
I was thinking before if i will take chemical eng. or civil. I love chemistry. but love structural, drafting, etc . .more than chemical things. .:))
Happy mylotting.
Dont bore yourself with too much study.
TIme management is very important.

Just hang in there! I too graduated from an engineering course, and I was a head of one major university organization, and member of other groups. It may not have been as much as you are going through, but I did understand having days with not too many hours to complete the task.
But I tell you, looking back at it now, it certainly was a great time of my life. You learn so much about yourself, and your limits. May it weld you into a better person, towards a brighter future.

Yes. you are right . Cuz thinking about everything I did way back is a great time for me. And time by time I realize that I'm doing better than the yesterdays. Thanks for the inspiring response.

I am also studying an engineering course and now I'm in second year. I know how hard to study an engineering course cause of lots of maths, physics and mechanics. The basic attitude to able to graduate an engineering as you said is to be strong even on obstacles and just to travel or walk on it. And usually 4th and 5thy year are the hardest part since they require students to have lots of projects and to be passed at a short period of time.
I'm happy for you and hope you can graduate next school year. My tip is just to manage time carefully cause lost time can ruin all we have planned for the day since time is really important if we want to graduate on engineering.

Yeah right.
Time management is very very important.
Actually not just for us, engineering students but also to everyone. Whatever you are doing. It is important.
Thanks for the response.
Happy mylotting.
God bless you on your chosen path. :))

Hi there zaga_cleuth!
I am not an engineering student anymore. But previously I am. But I'm thinking of studying my field further by taking up graduate courses. But it is still a plan. I am currently working on a manufacturing plant and I am already an engineer. However, I am still learning the trades of the field of engineering as I only have a couple of years of experience under my belt. Yes, studying engineering is quite hard. I have my fair share of sleepless nights and zombie mode hours just to finish some tasks and requirements, especially with my plant design. I have my fair share of mind boggling examinations, killer critics of thesis and paper, troublesome reports, inaccurate laboratory data and all during my student days. Good thing I have gone through them as I really need all those experiences to be able to cope up with a real engineer's life. Enjoy your student's days as a budding engineer. Always try to discipline yourself and be happy to experience the struggle. Only with the hardships will you taste the true fruits of your engineering study. You are an engineer, you should be able to ingenuously solve that time management problem that you have! I am sure you have learned a lot of problem solving techniques and analysis. Just try to apply it in real life too.
Looking forward for the new breed of engineers like you. Technology and the world surely needs all the engineers the world gets to produce. Haha!

ha ha. .lols.
I actually am, applying math on my life. .
multiplying my time with so many many things to do. Things I really like and enjoy doing.
Well I hope u can still do what your plan. u can. Engineers do persevere if they want something, they can get it. At the right formula of our life.
:)
Thanks then, for welcoming me in the world of engineers . .:))
