Caffiene .. Do You have TOO much

I remember when I used to drink coffee almost all day long while I was at work. I guess that the job was extremely stressful and this was mostly what kept me going all day long. Now, that I am self-employed, the stress is very close to ZERO and I find myself drinking coffee only in the morning (1 cup).

Wow, 16 hour shift? I don't think I would be able to stand working for that long at a time. You must be really something having the strength and stamina to last that long. As far as smoking, I quit that a long, long time ago and now I feel better because of it. Thanks

I can imagine. It reminds me when I used to work all day and right after work I was on my way to practice (music) until late at night. Then get up the following morning to go to work again. Thanks

I guess it is up to the individual on how much caffiene he can tolerate. Like I said I used to drink coffee almost all day long and I felt fine. Thanks

That's my favorite time to drink coffee as well. Usually it's very early in the morning, so it also helps me to wake up. Thanks

I do not drink coffee that often because I have a hard time sleeping at night. Nevertheless, I like drinking coffee and I like it black with no sugar. I also like drinking tea, especially green tea and japanese tea but I also have a hard time sleeping. So I guess caffeine is not for me.

I also like to drink coffee with nothing in it, especially sugar. I do not like my coffee with sugar. I rarely have tea. Thanks

Like you I used to drink a lot of coffee, but as I got older my anxiety got very bad even to the point that I started having panic attacks. My Doctor thought it best that I stop all caffeine except for maybe a cup every once in a while. I still have bad anxiety, but the panic attacks are much less now.

Robswife2006, I feel the same as stary1. I didn't cut down to only one cup of coffee because of panic attacks or because the doctor said to, just simply because I wanted to. I found lots of other things to do than drink so much coffee. Thanks

Yes, chocolate also contains caffeine and it also contains sugar or other sweeteners. I prefer to drink my coffee without any sweeteners. I have had chocolate once in a while, but my favorite is plain old coffee. Thanks

themyl ...I sometimes buy sugarless chocolates but also think about the harm from artificial sweeteners... I always want non fat milk in my coffee but no sweeteners

Yes, this is good I think. Some people are drinking a lot of cups like me but I don't recommend that. The only good time to drink coffee is just in the morning and it would be better not to drink more than two cups.

That's exactly what I think. Only 1 cup in the morning and that's it. Thanks

I like a cup of coffe but I only allow myself to have one cup a day, its tea that I have a bit of an addiction to, I find a nice hot cup of tea is what relaxes me.

I only have one cup of coffee in the morning and that's about it. As far as tea, I tried that a couple of times and I simply could not get used to it. Thanks

Yes, absolutely you can have too much, and earlier this year I did! I was sitting on my balcony one night, enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Houston, and before I knew it, I downed an entire percolator pot of coffee. Now, usually that's not a problem, but minutes after, my heart started feeling weird. I started feeling panicked and like my heart was racing. I went to an Emergency Room and later found out I was having heart palpitations. The doctor said it was a combination of caffeine and stress. Since then, I've toned my caffeine intake down considerably. I work in the evenings, so I usually just have one small 8 oz. cup during that time. I'm glad you're now self-employed and don't have as much stress, because as I said, that + caffeine can be a bad combo!

Tell me about it. Maybe that was the reason I quit working full-time and started working on my own, which was about a month out of the whole year and really enjoyed doing what I wanted to do the rest of the year, which was mostly music. Thanks

I don't have too much caffine. I usually drink soda when I need the caffine bost as I'm not a fan of coffee usually. And I only have caffinated anything in the morning to lunch time any later I may have a problem with sleeping.

I also drink soda, but I usually prefer fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Fresh brewed coffee is what helps me Wake up in the morning. Thanks

I've recently gotten an addiction to caffeine... I have big 16 ounce cups (almost 500ml) and when I have a coffee I like, both in the taste of the coffee, and the effect of the caffeine, I often have 3-4 of those in a day... that's 2 liters of coffee! Last night, I knew I had too much, and that my body was kinda fighting against it, my blood pressure and heart rate were way down, and I felt dizzy really easily. I need to stop, or at least just slow down, so that I don't get those effects... but the taste and the starter feel of the coffee is soooo good!

I don't have too much coffee....I don't think. When I drink instant coffee, I think I put about the equivalent of 2 servings of coffee in 8 ounces of water. So I guess I have about 2 cups a day. I don't have any ill effects from extra coffee like jitters, or shaking, or nervousness.

I don't have any ill effects or anything of the sort either. I only use enough coffee grounds to make one cup of coffee just once in the morning. I've tried instant coffee but I didn't like the taste. I prefer coffee grounds and making it fresh in the morning. Thanks

I admit, I probably do have too much caffeine, not only from coffee, but also from the amount of soda I drink. Unfortunately it's the only way for me to get through the day, especially at work. Probably the best sign that I am having too much caffeine is that if I don't have some for a few hours, I feel absolutely terrible and stressed out. It's weird but I guess the tolerance that I have build up helps me to actually relax when I do have caffeine. Makes it incredibly hard to quit though. I went a whole day without coffee or soda and had the worse head-rush whenever I stood up and terrible migraines. Curse coffee for being so tasty!!

It is tasty, but addicting isn't it? I, too, have gone for about two days without coffee, but I didn't feel as bad because I only drink 1 cup in the morning and that's it, no more until the following morning. Thanks
