Why do neighbors get to be irritating sometimes?

I am a private person and I always want to maintain my personal affairs to myself. I am in friendly terms with my neighbors but sometimes they get too irritating when they become inquisitive. I really hate it when someone asks where I am going. I think it is my own choice if I want to leave the house at any time of the day. Do I need to make explanations on my plans of going out? Or is it just normal to ask whenever you see someone dressed up with make-up on? Is information so important that people have to know what they are neighbors are doing in their own personal time? It can really be irritating because sometimes, I am in a hurry and don't want to stop by for a conversation. People may think I am a snob but I am not. I am a busy person with 24 hours hardly enough to finish my activities. I really envy those people who are able to survive without a lucrative job.

oh I hear you, I think privacy is worth a million dollars and I try to keep to my myself as well,m neighbours can become very annoying and should mind their own business, I just had my back porch all covered in to stop nosey neighbours...

It could be a traditional practice, here in our place it is acceptable up to certain extent.Asking, where you go, is such a friendly gesture from a neighbor.In our community each is connected to the other.When one is sad the whole community is affected.One time, a woman named Nina saw a man sitting on the chair closer to our entrance door, thinking that the man is our relative so he asked from where is that man came from and told him how he is related to us, she explained that we are still in Samal Island for a family vacation, the man did not answer but gone fast.Nina, telephoned me and told me about that man.Father listened to my info from Nina, then he told me that man is a dangerous one.We are warned from possible danger so we thank much to Nina (God gave us a sign through Nina).In this world we are connected to each other.

I hate those kind of people that surrounds me. Actually I am also a victim of those annoying people everyday. Every time they see me, they have this strange look. I didn't do anything wrong. Although I don't directly hear what they say about me, my mother would tell me that this is what they think about me. Well, I don't care for what they say.

I don't like it when people ask me where I am going either, because I just simply don't feel that it is any of their business at all. Although I like my neighbours, I don't like it when they're nosy. I was decorating my bedroom a couple of weeks ago, and they kept knocking on the door to ask "if everything was alright" because I was doing a lot of hammering. I said that yes, everything was fine, but that the hammering was unavoidable for a few days as I was having to build furniture. Yet they continued to knock and ask! It was very annoying indeed to be honest with you.

I agree with you, neighbors sometimes can be irritating. Especially when if your neighbors are jobless because they are the one who are just watching people around. They always wanted to talk with everyone to gather stories that they will spread out. I had a personal experience with those people and I really hate them.

someone who likes their privacy and there is nothing
wrong with that...I am the exactly the same way..Bur
fortunately I have a very nice neighbor and we have a
very good relationship..She is not nosey and neither
am I...If she every asked me something that I don't
want to answer I have no problem telling her "Its none
of her business" or "I'd rather not say"..and she is
free to say the same to me.. I think you have to show
to get respect..Good luck with your neighbors.

It seems that it is our culture to greet people by saying,"Have you had your meal? Or Where are you going?" So it is not annoying to us if we hear such expressions because we know that it is only a way of greeting acquaintances. Thank you for the disscussion.

hello,
Yeah, that's sounds irritating because you can even have a private life with them. It doesn't happen to me since I am not friendly with my neighbor honestly that is true I dont even give them a look I just look straight forward. So, that they dont tell anything to me. 
I know that is sounds really snob but I am just being honest to myself.
