Does any one of us here have the fear when you are by yourself into a room? I know of few people are afraid of being in a room alone by themselves, others are afraid of the darkness and many others too are afraid of unseen things. So, how do we cope up when dealing with this kind of fear in us? Any thoughts to share are highly appreciated. :-)

I don't really like being in a dark room on my own, because I always get the feeling that there's somebody in the room with me who might hurt me if I am in the dark and on my own. As soon as I put the light on I am fine, and I am also fine if there is somebody else in the room with me at the same time. I think you're when you say that it's the fear of the unknown that is bothering us rather than anything else. Children have this fear more than adults because they are still young and have a lot to learn about the world.

I am not afraid to be alone in the room. Because there are nothing for me to feel scared of worried even if I am alone. On the contrary, I do enjoy my own time since nobody will bother me. Actually when I was single, I lived alone and it was nice. I could do whatever I liked and nobody would disturb me.
I love China

I don't like it when I'm alone when I'm sleeping. Since a kid, I always had someone sleep with me or sleep in the same room. I don't like being all alone in my bedroom in the darkness, especially if I just finished watching a horror movie! Some childhood fears still stick to us when we're adults, some outgrow them but some don't. I don't mind being alone in a room while awake doing something like right now typing away on mylot. I prefer to be alone when I'm working, studying or just doing stuff on the internet. When I'm sleeping, I tend to freak out when I hear weird noises outside or even inside my house. So I prefer it better to sleep with someone in the room, that's why I share a bedroom. Even during my star at an apartment on a holiday trip to the beach with my cousins. Me and all my cousins all crammed their little beds and we even got the coach cushions to make a tiny bed for all my cousins to sleep in the lounge room. Lets just say there was no room to get out.

i remember my brother who is always afraid to be alone when he was a kid (thank God he outgrew that already). He is afraid of the dark and cannot sleep if the lights are closed. As for me, i am not afraid of the dark. i am just not USED to sleeping alone. I am not afraid of being alone in the room if i am awake, i do not mind it at all. :D

I have to say that I am well past the age to really freak out over such things but whenver I watch a movie for example Paranormal activity 1 or the movie the fourth kind, I am on edge for weeks. I can be in a room alone but I can't walk into a pitch black room and walk around, it's way too quiet, and I can't see the true images of objects only the outlines and shadows.... Yet I can fall asleep in a dark room. I can't get it other than the movies jump start unseen logic in my mind. kind of like on a normal day theres a sound in a room no one is in I would just say oh that was just a box I stacked incorrectly, nope after watching this movie I saying WhAt ThE HeCk WaS ThAT! I know i'm in this room so who's in the next one??? I even start walking towards the room talking outloud really loud like I'm confident, knowing I'm ready to kick and punch the air like I know what i'm doing....

well fear is a feeling ,if u feel you are secured then you are , no matter where you be..mind is fool you can often fool it as you want to...so whenever you be alone first of all do such things where you get involved yourself as if u forgot where you are ...doing things of your interest can really makes you to get rid of your fear...
be bold and always behave as if u r gonna die now itself...LOL:P

Hello Mel,
I used to get scared of dark and from being alone at home/room but now i never get scared off being alone.
I have seen some adults too having a fear of someone will come in if they are alone at room but that is their imagination and they need to come out of that imagination themselves as no body can help them for it.

I am not sure about what kind of fear you talk. Is there a reason how it started? Then go back in time and work on that.
There are plenty of people who have a kind of fobia, developped from one day to an other.
It's possible to work on that too, but first accept why you are the way you are. Next to discover that things are not that bad as you thought they are.
