I've seen both Japanese and English version of Hachiko and regardless of the version, it never failed to make me cry. My mom and dad watched this movie with me and we 3 ended up having puffy eyes.
The story is about Hachiko. A dog who patiently waited for his master to arrive at the train station. Hachiko never failed to appear at the train station at the same exact time to greet his master. Unfortunately, his master died due to a sudden attack and failed to arrive at the train station where Hachiko waited but this never waved Hachiko's loyalty. For 9 years after his master's death, Hachiko continuously went to the train station and waited for his master.
Hachiko is a TRUE STORY based on the relationship between a Tokyo-based professor (Ueno) and his Akita dog, Hachiko. Prof. Ueno died 1925 and Hachiko died 1935. As said in the story, Hachiko waited for his master to arrive at the train station continuously for 9 years. In memoriam for the dog's loyalty, a bronze statue for Hachiko was erected at Shibuya station. "Hachiko: A Dog's Story" is based on the Japanese movie "Hachiko Monogatari" which literally translates as "Hachiko's Story".
I highly recommend this movie to dog lovers out there. This story shows how loyal dogs can be. There are several stories which covered on dog's loyalty. There's Greyfriars Bobby and a certain dog in China who guards his master's grave. I'm a sucker for such story and I never get bored watching them.

I've read the original Japanese version and I've seen a blog where there's a pic of the statue of the dog.
I loved the movie. It also made me cry. I wish I had a dog like Hachiko. I hope our dog can grow like him.

I'm sure most dog owners wish the same thing. I always think that a dog's loyalty would depend on how their owner raise and takes care of them.
Are you familiar with the news about an Indonesian guy attacked by his dogs (4) since he forgot to leave food for them while he was on vacation?

Even if this reply is 4 months late, Lolz!
The story's really horrible but if you think about it, the owner is also at fault. I mean, in my opinion, any animal, no matter how gentle they are, tends to show their "animalistic" side because of extreme hunger.

I saw it and I cried. I was watching HBO and the movie was on. I did not really think a lot about it in the start but when the movie started progressing it touched me. It was so sad. The saddest thing was the later part when he kept going back to the train station. It was heartbreaking. It was a good thing a was alone because I cried a lot.

I cried when Mrs. Parker returned to the train station and saw Hachiko still waiting for Parker. Yeah, the part where he kept returning to the train station is both heart warming and sad :( But at least they reunited in spirit at the end of the movie :)

This dog's story is brilliant. The movie has touched millions who have watched it. I admit also I cried because of this very touching movie. Even though I am not fond of dogs, I was able to make fond of them because of this movie. I also recommend who haven't watch this to watch it.

I totally agree with you! I'm a total sucker for animal movies and this one ranked on my tope favorite list. Hachiko deserves to be remembered by Japanese for his loyalty. Heck, some people should learn what loyalty means from him!

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, same here. I love animals which have absolute sense of loyalty. Hachiko's loyalty is definitely astounding. The movie makes me want to owe a dog but my mom refused to have any pets in the house so my dad and I have to bear without having one.
