This is my cat boots in the picture and he eats so much he is driving me up a wall!!! I took him to the vet and there is nothing wrong with him, he is just a very BIG cat!! Yesterday I caught him eating his way through the garbage!! There were porkchops in there so that is what he was after! I had to take the water bottle to him. I feel thats a kinder way of scolding them. Of course it didn't fase him at all! He thought I was playing!!! Darn this cat!!! I love him but he is a pain sometimes!! Any of you have a cat like this???

Yep, the dog does too, can't leave anything in the trash they can get at, tho I will shove trash into a "cat free zone" if I don't want to take it right away

My cat tends to eat a lot too but I think I have encouraged her a bit, my cat came to me and was really an outdoor cat and once I decided to keep her I tried to get her to stay inside more so I did that with food nor she comes in and expects food many times during the day, so my fault but I look at that food id all she has to live for and I like for her to stay around the house.

Hi lilaclady, Im glad you made her a indoor kitty. I don't think its safe for them to be outside. But thats just me. I make the same mistake of feeding many times a day. But I try not to give him much, just a pinch of food. I guess I feel sorry for him cause he is crying so much for food. But I know I have to watch his weight to. He is 16 pounds!! Hope your kitty is doing good.

I don't have any of my furbabies anymore. But I remember that my Nemo was the same as your Boots. He got into anything and everything he could. And he was absolutely humongous! I would scold him while trying not to laugh my head off at him...but secretly I think he knew I had that soft spot for his antics. The spray bottle worked wonders though. It got to the point that all I had to do was reach for it and Nemo suddenly disappeared. LOL!

Katlady, I am so sorry you don't have them anymore. Will you be getting another kitty?? I hope so!! Nemo sounds so funny. The same thing happens when I reach for the spray bottle for boots! He runs away. So I think he has got the hint now!! I only have him now, as I lost my other two. But I am thinking of getting another kitty. Hope you are doing well.

Hi sweetie, it's been a while since I've been on here and probably won't respond much inbetween but had to when I saw your 'problem'. Hubby and I had a dog that wouldn't stay out of the trash no matter how much we scolded him so we bought a wooden trash can with a lid so our dog couldn't get into it anymore and it worked like a charm! Maybe that's what you need to do too. Find a trash can that's hard to knock over with a lid. Good luck!

Hey! It has been a while. I haven't been on here for so long, thats cause I am still pretty sick. I have daily pain now. Thats a good idea. You know, I don't have a garbage can at all. I just leave the sacks on the floor. I think I better buy one now!! Hope you, family, and fur babies are all ok.

I have had all types of cats. Over the years I had 30+ cats and they each had their own personalities and behaviors. I even had one cat that was a self proclaimed vegetarian! But yes, I have had the mischievevous cats that terrorize my home and garbage. Cats are like children. They can be a lot of fun but they also can be very challenging.

lumenmom, You are right. They are just like children. But they can drive you nuts. But I love him anyway! 30 cats??? How did you take care of them all?? Having more kitties is a dream of mine!

People would always bring stray cats to me, they knew I would take them. Some would be pregnant and soon there's a litter of 6 to 8 kittens. I would give the kittens away when they got old enough. I would take people's old and feeble cats. I usually only had two to three at home at a time. They all had very different personalities and I enjoyed each and every one of them.

Yes I have a cat like this too. All she does all day long is eat & sleep. That's it. Every time I go to look in her bowl it's almost empty. We have another cat too, but she doesn't eat nearly as much as my cat Shakes.

I sure do. My brother's friend used to take his cat and put it under the faucet, when he caught it climbing curtains. I think that's cruel, and I was shocked to say the least. My cat chews wires, so I do as the vet suggested, coat them with deodorant, lol. I know, my cats think I'm playing too when I spray them. My Dad used to put vineagar in the spray bottle so it would burn, but I won't do that.

Fortunata, That is cruel!! I would never do anything like that. I love him to much. I don't like anyone that is cruel to animals. Although my brother was when we were younger. And I chewed him out for it to! When I was married my husband threw my cat against the wall and I hated him for that. He had a limp for two weeks. Thank goodness I divorced him!! OH NO! Vinegar?? That would make them blind!! Thats a good tip from your vet, I will remember that. Boots likes to chew on cords to!! Thanks alot!
