Our very own, Filipino way of exchanging gifts among our group of friends, classmates, officemates and relatives.
Something soft and smooth...
Something sweet...
Something round...
... long and hard
... green or blue
Do you still practice it? Well, I don't! *sigh... I've been jobless for 3 years and away from friends and relatives. My neighbors are not sociable either... I'm bored! hmmmmp! ...

We don't practice these things anymore here in our office. In fact, even the exchange gift is already turned down.
I for one, don't like it, because if i see somebody being given by her monito, something for the day, and i have given mine too, yet i didn't receive anything from my monito, i would be hurt.
So better not have it anymore.

I felt that too way before. But for the sake of "togertherness"... known to our values as "pakikisama", I opted to be cooperative and just enjoy *sigh.
And if my "mommy/daddy",.. "ninong/ninang" (the person who got us to be their baby) don't have something for me in a scheduled giving day... well, I make "parinig" hahaha... she/he should have a valid explanation or else... just nothing *LOL
Anyway, what's important is, the spirit of Christmas is still here lying in our heart! ( gets (kuha) mo?!... 'just borrowing ana manalastas fave expression! :p )

Yeah, kuha ko. But still i don't like it. I think i am getting old to those activities. And besides, majority in our office don't like it also.
But we do have our Christmas party on the 15th. We get so excited just talking about the foods to prepare, the gifts , the raffles and the activities. That's when everybody really participates.

Hi raiyen!
My husband and I were work relocated far from our birth places. We settled there with our own raised family. We worked for 12 years years in that company until they decided for a retrenchment. All my gained friends in that area was a co-worker and a relocated too... and sad that when were retrenched they go back to places where they raised. Kaboom! Separated ways really!
Then, my husband, got work also nearby and we opted to stay here. Plus the fact that we had bought our own house in here.
That's the story raiyen *sigh...
Anyway, happy holiday!

I am working but we are not used to having a Kris Kringle or an exchange gift. I guess because we have so many on mind to still bother on it. And we usually attend 3 Christmas Party and that would mean a lot of money to contribute. I can't even remember the last time that I've joined a Kris Kringle. Maybe it would be fun if we do it within our own family. My kids are excited to their coming Christmas Party on December 16. They still don't know who is their Monito but as soon as they had the names, we will start buying their gifts and of course their Christmas clothes that they will use.

I already bought an exchange gift for my daughter to share on their year-end party on December 21. Isn't it so late to make it happen?!... goodthing, we're not in a long vacation mode that we can attend to it still... and not Christmas party... year end party!.. KJ *lol... admin were not catholic. Respected!
Yes, working people, mostly for male, were loaded to have no time to think about buying kris kringle gifts weekly. They tend to forget it. So the tendency is they will not join the group because pity are those they'll picked... no kris kringle to recieve!
Giffy Monday to you!

Not in my company but in my group within the company :D And we don't so the Kris Kingle thing but we do exchange gifts. We prefer giving gifts which the receiver requests so we write down our "Christmas List" for the rest of the group to see :P We used to have Kris Kringle before but some of us end up getting disappointed with the "something-something" rule so we opted to the traditional exchange gift :D

Why not trying having exchange gifts here in mylot :)
Me and my family still do this kris kringle with other relatives. we actually did it last year and we had alot of fun. I must say, life must have been a little bit cruel to you that you are suffering from boredom.
You can always enjoy here in mylot so that you won't feel bored my friend.
have a nice day.
cheers

Well, I'm just thinking if I will make a suggestion for Filipino's here in myLot to have an exchange gift, is there someone who's willing to join?! We can use LBC or other courier to send package all over here in our country... Well, it's just a thought...
Well, yes! MyLot helped me ease my boredom for sometimes... Thanks to MyLot then!
Cheers too!

In my company we usually don't have the "something" kind when exchanging gifts. We use aliases and then we have a wall where we post what we like to receive using our alias. That way, the person who gets your alias name knows what he/she will buy for you. Still their is an agreed minimum amount of money for that.

Your style sounds organized sinned!
The "something-something" was the old way of monito-monita. As it used generation to generation, it added changes on some ideas to a more creative, funny, exciting way to do it. And it's really nice to practice it still :)
Lovey Monday!

Nice to have those during Christmas right..But really,i am not missing those because we don't have those when i was working.. :-(
Because our group is filled with boys,i am the only girl,we don't do exchange gifts..
We only have Christmas party but not the party that most company has.We just bring food to the job site and eat lunch. We give them presents and they boss gives us bonus. But after eating we will just part ways like.
A for my Family,we dont exchange gifts,we just eat and give the kids their presents..

We don't do the Kris Kringle anymore because it is expensive to buy gifts several times and we do not have the luxury of time to buy gifts. However, my husbunny does this in their office. At one time, he brought home some gelatin because their theme then was something colorful (if my memory serves me right). In my school, we have exchange gift. We have three Christmas parties - for the students, for the Coop members and for the faculty. I joined the exchange gift with my students. I asked them to write what they want to receive so that we'll have any idea what the person wants. For the other parties, we have not yet been told if we're going to have exchange gifts.
Anyway, Christmas is just around the corner. I simply love this season!

We did that during my high school days. But now that I am working, we don't do that in our office. Our names are written in a small piece of paper then we have to pick one. Some of us will give a hint on what kind of gift they like to receive during Christmas party.
