So much for 2 days vacation per week

So much for the 2 days off from work weekly. Just as we are starting to enjoy our compressed working hour, just this morning as per information from our HRD, they will no longer implement the compressed working hours, meaning no more Saturday off for us again. We will have to report from Mondays to Saturdays again, worst since I'am on the operation we will have to report until Sunday, uggghhh. Just when you thought you will be having a wonderful week.

I know what you mean. I think it is a good thing I am doing freelance because I own my work hours. I think a two-day vacation every week should be mandatory. they should cycle their employees so that everyone will have a vacation even though it may not happen on Saturday and Sunday.

so sorry to hear that. if your company needs that operating days to be fixed, they will have to hire more people and put you guys on shifting schedule. i guess relying on the current employees will do them no good. i mean, why would they think it is workable that way when the employees got no vacation even for 2 days in a week. that is against the law, right?

I think employees deserve a 2 days off from per week. Employees tend to be unproductive if they are overworked. So much stress from work can really one's health in danger. It's not really against the law as long as you are given at least 1 day off. The thing is they have implemented last month the compressed working hours, not because they want us employees to have a 2 days off but because they have to due to cost cutting measures.

Well I guess you will just have to make an adjustment. It is definitely frustrating but since work demands it, then as an employee we will just have to accept and adjust. I have worked before for on an every other day shift with 24 hour duty every other day. It is really hard to enjoy a long term vacation since after being off for 24 hours, then you have to go on duty again for another 24 hours. Worst is that we have no Sunday off or Christmas holiday or New year holiday when its duty time since our work responds to emergencies and we have to be alert and duty even those wonderful holidays. But I have manage to continued working their for 13 years since I love the work. But now, I am quite free. I now do business and is my own boss. I get to decide when to work and when not to work. But I know that as long as you love your work, you will always have the strength to go on. Best to you always!

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. I value weekends so much and sometimes I wish I had longer weekends. I hope you're getting paid for weeking on Sunday, though. Otherwise that could be a violation of labor laws in the case of your employer (well, unless of course you're part of management).

i have two days holiday wekly too. but i think it is neough because i am too tired after 5 days working. i use my holiday for more sleeping and doing more online jobs. i enjoy my chat with neighbour around me. just enjoying life. sometime i goe with my wife or taking her to the college
