I am a firm believer that Derek Jeter is the best shortstop ever. He is by far the best fielder to ever play the game. Anyone agree or disagree?

I don't know if Dereck Jeter is the best shortshop ever but I would say he is one of them! I choose Cal Ripkin Jr. myself. Ripkin redefined the shortstop pocession. Before him guys who were not tall and big. Shortstops were played by smaller guys. Ripkin showed that shortstops could be built like him! Ripkin also suppassed Lou Gehrig to be the all-time "Iron Man"! He played well over 2,000 straight games before he sat down in 1998! This is why I like Cal Ripkin Jr. as the best shortstop ever!

In a competely unbiased opinion, I do believe that Jeter should be at least in the discussion as the best shortstop ever. When you take a look at his career statistics, it's actually quite remarkable what he has accomplished. A career .313 hitter, 3000+ hits, 12 time All Star, and playing exceptional defense all come to mind as amazing accolades. From my perspective, Derek is probably the best short stop to ever play the game.
