Here in Kerala we have a working time of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is the most of working time followed in every government department. The time for private companies differ by their job.

The usual full time working time is 09.00 to 17.00 with one hour for lunch. I am a primary school teacher. The school day runs from 08.50 to 15.15 for the children. On a working day I get to school between 07.30 and 08.00 then I go home between 17.00 and 18.00. If I go home earlier I take books to mark and my planning books with me.
In a normal job there are 20 weeks holiday per year. In teaching we get all the school holidays off: Christmas 2 weeks, February 1 week, Easter 2 weeks, summer 6 weeks and October 1 week. Now I do part time and contract teaching I keep some of term time to go off traveling because of cheaper prices.

Hi Chris, it depends on what type of job you are doing. Most jobs would be around 8 to 12 hours. You can aspect them to be as early as 6am to 12pm. Of course bars, pub, bistro and disco have different operation hours^^ Generally if you worked for 10 hours or more, you would have 2 rest period which may be 1 or 1 and a half hour.

Here in our company our usual working hour is 8:00 to 5:00 but we have half day of Saturday as working day.
Lately, we compressed our working hour so we get to work from 8:00 - 6:30 in the evening except for Monday which is 8:00 - 7:00. So, now we have the whole of Saturdays free.
We all like it that way, because we don't have to pay our fares & allowances for ourselves on a half day of work on Saturday.

Same kind of times over here. Normal is 8 hours work at day plus extra time for lucn, coffee/tea break.
So generally speaking I think you are at your work for 9 hours.
Unless you have a part-time job.
