Is Chivalry in public transportation dead? I commute as a mean of transporting to places and I noticed that guys nowadays don't offer seat anymore when there's a girl standing in front of them. I'm not saying that girls can't afford to stand on public transport but isn't nice if a guy offer their seat even for the sake of being thoughtful..?

I have to agree, it is gone. I ride BART and see this all the time. What I also see is people not giving up their seats for the elderly, which is absolutely disrespectful in my opinion! Also I always see kids taking handicap seats and not giving them up when people who are visibly handicapped get on. It's awful people these days have lost sense of decent behavior.

U can forget about that happening in singapore. When seats are concerned, it's always a first come first served basis. There are cases of people pretending to be asleep when they see pregnant woman, elderly and kids coming onboard. In worse cases, some would demand people to give up their seats since they think they deserved it. With all the scenarios, where does Chivalry lies when everybody thinks they ought to occupy that seat?
