I didn't know where to put this topic so i guess i put under life..could be under make money but i dunno.
Any time in your life that you have a bank account, is there a time where you had a negative balance on your checking? say around -50 to -$120 or a bit more than that.. How is your expression??
Have you ever felt that there many montly things being withdrawn from your account and that you end up with a negative balance on checking account? What would you do in your situation on this?
do you tell your parents or you find ways to lower the balance? is there a faster way to find something to get it back to balance?
Sorry to ask. Reason is i have this situation but just want some tips and insights.

First thing to do? Call the bank and arrange a free overdraft facility, even if it's only temporary. Otherwise they'll slap you with so many bank charges that you'll end up paying 4-5 times what you really "borrowed".
Most banks are quite friendly about that, especially if it's only a few hundred dollars. Once you've done that you won't be hit with big charges, so you'll have time to find some money to cover the negative.

In India any cheque cannot be debited without having sufficient fund in your account.Though in some special circumstances bank can debit your account to meet some need, but it will result a debit balance in your account.
I don't have such experience in my life and hope it will never happen.
You must meet the bank officials and do what they suggest as they will surely find a solution for your problem.

Hi!
Touch wood that that will never happen to me. So far, I have not encounter such a situation before, where I will ensure I have enough money in my checking account before I issue check to other. And moreover, our bank will not let the check get through if they found that our account have not enough money to cash the check, so, what they will do is they will call and inform the account holder to bank in money so that the check will not be bounced.
Tips to avoid such a situation is to save a portion of your income first let say, 30% or 10% when ever you get your salary. So, after you have save the money, then only you can spend the rest of your money. In such a way, you will still at least have saving after you have spent the rest of the money.

With me, a negative balance happens frequently. When I write a check, I have the money in the bank. I check my online account as well as my checkbook. I pay the bills but by the time the check goes back to the bank something goes terribly wrong and suddenly the money is not there. I usually run out in the middle of the month. And, there is nothing I can do until I get my Social Security check on the 3rd of the following month.

Firstly you need a system to help you keep track of your expenses. If you are very worried about this becoming a big problem you can always figure out your debts leave that money in the bank for them to clear and take the difference out in cash as your spending money for whatever you need. Also avoid automatic payments out of your account, I find them causing me a headache from time to timebetween trying to remember when they come out but scrambling to be able to pay for them.

The only way i could see is to manage your finances properly. Do not overspend, if the expense to be incurred can be delayed for some time, then schedule it. Keep track of all the checks issued and keep your records up to date. For the monthly bills being debited automatically, make sure that your income is more than the bills you have to pay.
