Sitting on huge wealth while millions starve, the hubris of claiming infallibility, torture, not speaking out against Hitler, I refer of course to the popes and the Roman Church
16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
What say you?

My goodness! Nothing deters you, does it? They delete one of Urban's discussions & he goes off & starts plenty more! Persistence pays!
Well, Luther might have worked harder & longer at his reformation, but I like Urban's reformation better!
Well, there's a much longer list of Catholic Church crimes against humanity, both before & after the reformation. Books have been written - really big thick ones that would take years to properly digest - both before & after the reformation.
The good thing about the situation nowadays is we're allowed to speak openly about these things without being charged with heresy, tortured until we racant & then have a cross seared into our backs, thrown into the streets & publicly murdered (to save our souls!).
Whilst it's true that Luther only wanted to reform the Catholic Church, his reformation should not have stopped with his achievements. The message by the people sent straight to those bastions of power within the catholic church should be asserted time & time again that what they are doing is not of Christ. This church's actions & intentions do not at all reflect those teachings of Jesus offering love, mercy & compassion to the people - only giving & not taking.
Another issue is the way they have doctored their favourite closed canon of scripture to support their own dogma, doctrine & rituals over the centuries so that no other church can properly form & still call itself Christian. Nor do they allow the possibility for any individual truth seeker to easily find the answers they need from its butchered pages. There is no love of the truth that we can see from the catholic church. It seems only to be a self-serving, money laundering business intent on gaining as many members & as much power & influence & money as possible.
It would be interesting to see how catholics set about defending such a long list of accusations over such a long period of time. I've seen some of their websites against Luther - it's truely disgusting, makes no logical sense whatsoever & only serves to defame them further. Or should we feel sorry for them?

How about studying what happened in the Nazi Germany which was a protestant country btw and then throwing the stone ? :D
The German census of May 1939 indicates that 54 percent of Germans considered themselves Protestant and 40 percent considered themselves Catholic, with only 3.5 percent claiming to be neo-pagan "believers in God," and 1.5 percent unbelievers.

How about sticking to the discussion topic? I should know the Protestant make - up of Germany better than most... my forefathers were from there. You have not given me any new information here. The only aspect of the discussion referring to Germany was regarding the church's lack of willingness to speak against Hitler. What does your second paragraph have to do with this discussion at all?
To the best of my knowledge Hitler was neither protestant nor catholic. Protestant churches speaking against Hitler in Germany would have been instantly squashed & you know it. The Pope speaking from Italy - or wherever he chose - could have changed the course of the war & saved lives.

Then you should know that Italy was also a fascist country back then.I wanted to tell you that you shouldn`t blame the catholics for something no church has done at that time.
Also child molesting it is happening in almost every church. There are more catholics because the church is bigger than any other church.
What doesn`t make sense for you makes probably a lot of sense for a catholic.Just like you are attacking their church they are attacking yours. The message by the people sent straight to those bastions of power within the protestant churches should be asserted time & time again that what they are doing is not of Christ

Hi, Urban
Most religions permit their members to fight in wars - often against others of the same religion. That happened during the WW 1 and 2 and even in our days.
We should search for true Christians, that don´t kill others in wars or participate in them. Jesus didn´t act for any political party of his time, as he taught that God´s kingdom would be the solution for the world problems.
The first Cristians followed him very closely and they had no priests or popes who were paid for preaching or any religious titles. They had ordinary jobs and were preaching on their free time.
Have you met such Christians in our days?
I know millions who do this..

I am not a religious person, I have never understood how the churches of all religions if doing Gods work as they are supposed to be doing close their doors, I feel the church is the first place deperate people can go, and why is the money they receive not being used to help people, the whole thing of religions should start doing what God would have wanted them to do and I think they should be taxed, all of them and be accountable.

Yes, that's a good point. Jesus did not refuse to be taxed & paid taxes when asked to. I wonder how the church can justify this?

Catholic church is not the only church where you can find child molesters.Almost every church on this planet had or has such priests. There are more cases on the catholic church because it is the biggest church.
About World War II and the crimes against Jews. What do you know about Luther ?What do you know about his beliefs regarding the Jews ?
Do you know who wrote this ?
"First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them. This is to be done in honor of our Lord and of Christendom, so that God might see that we are Christians, and do not condone or knowingly tolerate such public lying, cursing, and blaspheming of his Son and of his Christians. For whatever we tolerated in the past unknowingly_and I myself was unaware of it_will be pardoned by God. But if we, now that we are informed, were to protect and shield such a house for the Jews, existing right before our very nose, in which they lie about, blaspheme, curse, vilify, and defame Christ and us (as was heard above), it would be the same as if we were doing all this and even worse ourselves, as we very well know. "
Sad but true.

"Almost every church on this planet had or has such priests."
So you claim but to make such a serious claim without evidence is disreputable, I suggest you provide evidence or withdraw that claim.
That it happened in the Orthodox Church comes as no surprise another authoritarian Church, power tends to corrupt

The protestant churches ministers & those in higher positions are allowed to marry. That makes a bigger difference than anything to the numbers we find. It is core policy & a long history that makes the difference, not just apparent numbers.
These could have been Luther's personal views & were not etched into Lutheran's beliefs today. Again, I fail to see the relevance of this. Modern examples aside, the Catholic Church's history has concieved, enforced & carried out a whole string of some of the worst crimes against man & more specifically against women. This was well before Luther's time & continued in & by the Catholic Church for a long time afterwards. So again, your argument does not work here. This is a real pity, because you usually come up with some pretty good material. I won't hold one bad day against you though!

"We would be naïve and dishonest were we to say this is a Roman Catholic problem and has nothing to do with us because we have married and female priests in our church. Sin and abusive behavior know no ecclesial or other boundaries." Rt. Rev. William Persell, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, Good Friday Sermon, 2002.

The church is supposed to be good, so why is it that minister, and preachers who are so very trusted prove to not be able to be trusted. I can say for 1 they are abusing their trust. They are not really followers of god, but instead they portray their selves to be followers of god when in reality they are followers of Satan. Be careful who you trust in the church, and be careful who you are leaving your children with inside of the church. I warn you!!! Please people be careful for those who allow their image to be viewed as godly, but in reality or satanic.
