So my computer monitor went out. I bought it used a year ago so was really bummed when a few months ago it would not always turn on right away. In fact for the last month I would have to click on and off over and over until it finally stayed on. The last two weeks I just couldnt shut the monitor off at all in order to prevent any issues. I came home tonight and it was blinking on and off all on it's own so I knew it was done. It was a Flat Screen and a black one. I loved it.
Well the only thing I could do was barrow an old school AccuSync700 monitor. This thing is HUGE and like the kids back in the day. It's def. a huge differene. I mean to think all those years I used these type of monitors. It's a total change from the resolution, the coloring, the size and the bubble shape screen from a flat screen. It takes up 2x the room the flat screen did.
I am already ready for a new monitor like asap now! haha..I hope they are not that expensive.

As the technology evoles, the thinner, bigger, smarter monitor is not so experience as you think.Compared with the price, you should care about the quality more.If you don't,the story of your old screen maybe happen again.haha...

Hi Sandee,
New monitors are not expensive at all. I just replaced a Dell LCD monitor that was 1600x1200 resolution. I bought it in 2002 for $999, which was a good price for a 20" monitor at that resolution. It is still working, in fact I put it on one of my computers downstairs. I got 2 new Acer 23" monitors to replace my Dell. Those monitors are 1920x1080, and each of them was only $120. Yes, price has fallen very far in the past few years!

For the sake of colour I like the old style monitors, I tried to explain to my techy what I think the difference is between the old and the new, I think the new is like water colur where the old is like oil painting...I noticed this when making my own cards on the new monitor they always had to be lightened to what I see on screen and I was pleased when I met a professional photographer who only uses the old style because the old had the true colour for his photos. But I had to go with the times new style monitor I just have to remember to lighten all photos.

Hi Sand,
I am used to the old CRT monitors since my college days, in fact even during the time of monochrome and 386's. My latest monitor was a seven-year old Samsung CRT, 17" but with good resolution and RGB colors which served my graphics very well.
I am yet to buy a LCD one, and I haven't gotten around to test its durability yet.

They are really nice for space and comfort. It's crazy how a flat screen is from the rounded screen of the older monitors. I think overall that's the difference in the two monitors I don't like. My eyes hurt already and I've only had it for two days haha.

Yes the resolutions, the color definitions, the space consumption, and to sum it all the quality is very different.
I had the same problem with my monitor, and it drives me crazy specially when i'm playing online games and suddenly poof, it turns black. and my only good solution was, to buy a new monitor. I"m sure you can buy a new one that's not expensive, juts need to find a store that provides it :)
happy mylotting
