The all Indian senior selection committee met in Ahmedabad to pick the team for the remaining two odis. And the news is that Umesh Yadav is been replaced with the all-rounder Irfan Pathan, The rest of the squad will remain the same as the first three Odi's. Abhimanyu Mithun has been picked up for the Australian tour, He replaces injured Praveen Kumar in the team.

Generally, if someone performs well, he gets a chance in Indian team but it does not seem to be the case with Irfan Pathan, I feel he is included in the team because of following reasons: 1. He is performing well in domestic cricket and as always his fans want him to be in team that is going to Australia and selectors have already included Mithun ('Extra'Ordinary talent) for Australia tour. 2. (Selectors expectation) On Indian pitches, there are chances that he'll not perform to his potential. 3. Dhoni is not the captain of team India for these two matches and I am sure Sehwag is not someone who will ignore talent like Irfan Pathan if there is any chance. I must say, in last 10 years of my life, I've seen only one Indian bowler (not a spinner) who could dominate any batting lineup and that is none other than Irfan Pathan, people may include others but it's my personal opinion and not only bowling, his batting is also too good to be ignored. In these situations when we are experimenting with Ravindra Jadeja and others in middle order, Irfan Pathan could easily get a chance, especially in England when RP Singh was called, I was really disappointed. I'm praying that he not only comes back to Indian team but breaks a few records and then I'll see who/what will stop such a precious talent.

lol.good one about mithun. yadav has impressed the selectors in the given chances.aaron is somewhat off-color but i never understood mithun's inclusion. he bowls only one length. whenever he tries short ball, they disappear to the boundary. i dont recall any yorkers or slower delivaries. he can bowl incoming deliveries like ishant but never get the line and length right. when you think the selectors cant mess up anymore, they surprise you. as for pathan,if he has got half the chances yuvraj, jadeja got he would have been a main stay. by the way,did anyone notice pathan swinging the bal in the recent ranji trophy matches?

Exclusion of Irfan Pathan in today's match was another shock but I am very very happy with what Sehwag has achieved, at least now Sachin has got something ahead of him to achieve. I am really regretting for not trying in Indian cricket, I bet that I would be worst than Mithun and on that basis, they would have selected me for Australia tour ahead of Mithun. This is what required for being selected for Australia tour only I can do worst than this: A Mithun 4 0 37 0 9.25 (1w) Selectors have crossed the limits, it's enough, I feel like typing those tension relieving words here for them which are not allowed here.

I don't know what happened between Dhoni and Irfan but I remember that when Irfan was struggling with his form, Dhoni preferred RP instead of Irfan and because of this he had an argument with the selectors as well after that, Irfan couldn't get a chance in Indian team, now also Sehwag is the captain but still Irfan would be only dreaming to get a chance in playing 11. Varun Aaron is a good bowler but may be because of lack of experience he doesn't have the confidence while bowling and his moral doesn't seem to be high.

I think that is a good move. I think we need to keep Irfan in the frame of the national side. After the retirement of Zaheer, he could be the bowler who could lead the attack with his swing and the reverse swing. But he would first have to prove himself and become more and more consistent to get that spot back. Cheers! Ram

It is a welcome news that Irfan Pathan back into reckoning and found a place in Indian sqad. After starting his carrier in grand fashion against Australia and doing creditably well against Pakistan in Pakistan, he lost his form and went in to oblivion. He however continued to be in good books of I.P.L. franchisees and bagged a good deal for himself and performed creditably well in I.P.L.s with both bat and ball. How well he will perform at International level, being out of match practice at that level, remains to be seen. I wish him all the best.

I think that Selection committee had put Iran to look his performance and by looking this Selection committee will decide whether they have to carry or get away Irfan Pathan. Do you think that he is a good all-rounder ?

Umesh Yadav has been doing good during the initial part of the series? But why Sachin is not playing these series?

of course umesh is doing a brilliant job but needs rest to take on the boulders in AUS SERIES..Same applies to sachi...what will happen if he gets injured ???

Sachin has become selective after this world cup, he plays only against good teams, unfortunately, in series against England he was injured but for West Indies he would have opted to give chance to these young lads and it will also give him time to prepare for Australia series.
