what an awful last few days. Sunday my mouse worked for an hour, unplug replug then three h ours, then one then three just drove me crazy. then yesterday morning I inadvertently knocked the key board plug -in out and could not get it back in in unplugging and replugging the mouse.so had to wait until my son got off work so he could help me. He had to straighten a pin in the plug in to the keyboard but he got that back in and got my mouse working. so far this morning I just had to unplug and replug it once. seems there's some sort on broken connection in my mouse. but If I can just hang in mow till Saturday my son told me he would get me a new mouse. My thought for discussion is do we ever realize how important some little thing is to us until\it does not work? Just think how much that silly little lump ofblack stuff called a mouse does for us all day every day come rain or shine.Your take my fellow mylotters

I admire the person who first called it mouse for his talent.Come to think of it,the mouse is flexible just as the mouse. We don't really take it lightly. Not long before, something went wrong with my mouse,I wanted it to go left ,it went right. It bothered me a lot and I had had it.I had no choice but to buy a new one.

Hello Ms. Hatley, I've been wanting to buy a mouse too. Although I am used to just using the track pad in my laptop, I still think of buying one. The other one I had is too small for my hands and is giving me pains Really nice of your son only 3 days left and you have a new mouse. And about your question.. I would have to say yes, usually we ignore minor defects, same as what I did on my phone 2 years ago. I use to just toss it on my bed, so careless of me so when it worked no more.. I realized how important to take care of these things.

hi enelym yesterday the ,mouse stopped three times and I had to unplug it and replug it to get it to work not easy to do as the'back of my computer is hard to get to also the mouse plug has to go in straight or it will not go in. lol so far today the mouse has been fine.I am so fortunate to have a loving son who does all these nice things for me. I am still not on a cellphone but imagine I will get one one of these dats.

Oh I can imagine how difficult it really is reaching for that mouse port behind the CPU. When I was using a desktop computer in the house and office before, a defective is usually my problem. Companies don't easily change the mouse if they feel it is still a little bit working Oh how I hate those times Great son indeed, loving his mom so much.

Hatley aunty -- You are hundred per cent correct. As long as things work normally we do not bother about it. Only absence of it or malfunctioning of it makes it important for us. Mouse also - aunty - I like the standard size one. I bought a new one last week. It is cheap - 3$. but the size of it will suit only kids below 12. But I cannot throw it. So when you be watchful to get a mouse of normal size and not a small one. Same company zebronics only make these mouses of different sizes. Probably a few people will like mouse of small size. good day.

Hi Hatley, I can empathize with you on that. I am totally lost when something goes wrong or does not work on my computer. I have a mouse on my laptop, because I hate the finger pad on this laptop. I lost the little remote antenna for my cordless mouse and I had a fit until I found my old one.. it works fine so i'm happy with it. I get pulled out of my frame when something with my computer doesn't do right.

Here in Sweden we say: You don´t miss the cow before the stall is empty.. We get so used to things - and kind of spoiled - when everything works as it should.. Hmm.. sometimes we should sit down and count the things we should be grateful for.. I once read about a woman who sat and picked things with her fingers, and her grandchild asked her what she was doing. She said: I just enjoy that I have two thumbs..

I do hope you will get a new mouse soon, Hatley, as it seems to be a great hobby for you to use the computer. I think I´m kind of addicted, like so many others, and just hope my computer continues working. It´s six years old - a laptop - and I like to use the mouse.

Oh I know it, Hatley! I remember coming home one night and for whatever stupid reason, my mouse just would not work. I tried and tried. This was my wind down time and I was getting so wound up! Another time, I spilled my coffee all over my keyboard. I'd just gotten out of work. It was late and the stores were closed. I vowed, I'd keep an extra keyboard and mouse on hand for these situations. Do you think I have? Nope. And they always give out when you can't just go out and replace them either for lack of cash or because of the hour.

hi sid yes it would happen during the week a nd my son works and by the time he off he is tired and most stores are closed anyway., so now Saturday is not too far off. today I did not really use my computer til noon but so far today the silly mouse is working like normal. but after yesterday I do not really trust the thing. we too had extra keyboards and mice but when we were evicted we could not get all our belonging in the u haul so were forced to leave some things there. my son did go back and scavenge some things he could salvage.

Hi Hatley, wow, your topic threw me off, I thought you were going to mention that rat you have running around, and then I realized you were talking about a computer mouse..lol Yes, I know how important my mouse is, because the few times I borrowed a laptop from the library, ugh, what a nightmare, I never had so many problems as when I tried to use that stupid ball to move the cursor. And speaking of a mouse, the other kind, turns out we got one now.. He got into this container I had, of dogfood, and when we found out and tried to catch him, he moved into the bedroom where my husband keeps his extre fireworks..Turns out mice love fireworks...

Hi Hatley, I used to use a mouse but not now I use the pad on my laptop, the mouse got infuriating so in the end I opted for the pad-it is a lot better and quicker to do things but if you haven't got a pad to use it must be infuriating not being able to use the computer-it would drive me nuts if that happened to me. You are right though about the small things in life that we use and miss if it doesn't work e.g the kettle-mine keeps packing up on me so have to buy a new one-lol Hugs LoLo

My keyboard is intigrated into the laptop. Whatever that is called. I really didn't think I would be able to use it but I got used to it. It is something we take for granted. hi savak I think the thief would probably have taken the whole bike wut it was chained and padlocked to the fence by his apartment now he bought a new wheel he said he was going to keep it inside. we have youth gangs mostly illegal Mexicans who are really vicious.they steal and they kill in drive by shooting mostly aiming for other gangs but often kill innocent people who were just walking by. ugh. tomorrow night my son is coming to see me and hopefully bring a new mouse,if he is short on funds I can loan him some money as I really really want that mouse.

You have to use the arrow keys to move things around on the computer, but you have to go into your control panel to set it up so that the arrows work in place of the mouse. I know what you mean about the mouse going all over the place, my old one use to do that. I am really happy with my HP USB mouse. Have a nice evening Hatley. :)

Awww, I can just imagine you with this darned mouse! I bet you were soo frustrated, I know I would be. We do rely on the mouse a lot don't we? Even if I had a laptop I'm sure I'd end up buying a mouse as I hate that thingy you're supposed to use on them. Don't have that on a desktop keyboard, thank goodness. I have two other keyboards (with mice) upstairs that I tried selling on ebay once I got the one I'm using now..without success. Darn it, I wish you lived next door, I'd let you have at least one of the sets for nothing! As for my current wireless keyboard/mouse combo..all is well. The mouse has two Duracell AA batteries in it and has lasted at least 10 months. I've never known that before. Usually I get 2 months tops out of them. Well done Microsoft..for once!!

I take it the weather is unseasonably cold is it? I can't keep up with ours. Yesterday it was freezing and today it's mild but blowing a gale. I'll be relieved when winter is done and dusted and gone! I hate it! I didn't want to get up today. I was all snuck in my bed and the cat came along and plonked herself right by the side of my head on my pillow. At one point she was nuzzling me so I could hear her purring which prevented me from getting up, such was its soothing effect. How I love cats!

Yes, I can commiserate with your problems. Whilst I have not had many problems these days with the modern USBs that plug in an out, I remember I bent a pin in one of the old-fashioned memory cards one. I tried to straighten it but it was deeply buries in a recess on the machine, but did get is straight. Plugged the memory card back in and it still didn't work - the pin had bent again. When I tried to straighten it out for the second time, it broke off and that was the end of that. A repair would have cost more than the machine was worth, so I used it for a while and then got another machine. I am very careful when plugging things in and out now and often hold my breath until I see that it is working OK.. _Derek

I bet there are a ton of things that would make us uncomfortable if it stopped working. The hair dryer..that is what comes to mind for me. I have to blow that hair and go out the door...lol. I have had them to stop working on me before and it really ruined my day. I hope you have another one by now. Take care.

Hiya Hatley, Are you getting a new Mouse on Saturday then? What have you had a Mouse in your Room then as well? Could it be he was looking for the other "Mouse" then? This Mouse plays up as well it can be very naughty like my Puppy and has some nasty tricks up its sleeve as he he he. I can´t imagine you keeping Sandwiches in your Wardrobe perhaps your Room Mate was looking for something and propped the plate in there while she was looking for whatever it was. I can´t find anything here either at the moment except for my Head which is still there I had almost forgotten about that one.xxx

At home we have a few devices which could log on to the internet and that you don't need any mouse/mice. It's all touch screen and easy-flick! But since I've gotten so used to using a mouse, it is still easy for me to use a desk top, and have my hand on a mouse to move around on screen. But I see your frustration when the mouse becomes defective!

hi Kalyni I have learned the last few days to remember the three Cs, calm, cool, and collected. My son was going to get me a new mouse last Saturday.but a lousy thief spoiled it because he stole the whole front wheel of my son's bike. Getting it replaced took all the money he had so its on for a new mouse this coming Saturday,an early Christmas gift perhaps? any way I can make it through til then by remembering the three C's as a teacher once taught me long ago.

That mouse seems to be giving you a lot of trouble lol... This event kind of reminds me of my elder brother...He had a PC a long time back(switched to a laptop now...)with a broken link with the mouse and keyboard slots...It gives him headaches when he is doing some work and suddenly finds that his keyboard is not responding...He made such a huge mess as if his whole life was gonna come to an end... But he later got himself a new keyboard and a mouse and is happy with it... Surely this does show what a small thing in life can give us a tough time... It is like my mother used to say when i was little..You never know the value of your eye unless it is gone... Do buy a mouse which can be linked to the usb port because the other type may become unresponsive if not properly taken care of..
