Am I The Only One Who Actually Reads The Discussions and Comments?!

Does anyone actually read the questions of a discussion and answer them the way they were meant to be answered? I understand that some questions or discussions can be vague, but seriously!! Half of the responses I get from my discussions are not relevant to my discussion. Some have the same topic and answer a different question about that topic, which is something I don't mind hearing. I like to hear from different perspectives, but I want to hear answers to the questions that I ask as well. I would love to hear both. One particular discussion I have started hasn't had my questions answered except one person. One person answered the exact opposite of my questions lol. I don't know if I write in a way that is difficult to understand or what. (When I start a discussion I usually ask a question)
And Comments; is there anyone else who actually reads all of the comments of a discussion before responding, or am I the only one who does that? lol

Personally I do not like long discussion because of the fact you have to read through 20 comments to make sure the point you are going to make was not already covered. Just a personal preference.

I can see how you wouldn't want to read through responses to something you aren't interested in, but I personally like to hear different points of view and I only respond to topics that interest me. I can definately sympathize with not wanting to read responses that make no sense or have no revelance to the discussion you want to take part in as well.

I know what you mean littjeter37 some discussions are very long and if you were not involved in them from the beginning it is a lot to read. For that reason, I think I prefer shorter discussions. Also, I like to think the person that left a comment that I add to, is going to read it too. You know what I mean littjeter37? Littjeter37? Oh, well maybe someone will.

Well there are those - like me lol that do read the discussions and even the previous people who already answered.. to see how i can answer it back. Well, we cannot really help that there are really persons who only read the title and answer write away and not knowing the content is different...and not people are alike..
but then mylot is mylot, different people, different perspective, different ways of answering, different levels of intellect... mylot mylove still

We are in the minority. Most people don't read the responses given by others before responding, half of those don't seem to read the whole discussion topic. Why do I say this, I read a lot of discussions here but don't answer a quarter of those read, the reason being that those that ask a question once the answer is given there is no reason for me to answer nor should 15 more people answer the discussion with the same answer. It doesn't matter to me if it's a discussion that has pages of responses just gives me more opportunities to comment.
So no most don't read discussions even less read all the responses. Why, because in my opinion most are lazy and think that responding to more discussions earns them more, little do they know they could just stay in one and comment in a bunch of boxes and earn just as much and have a lot more fun.

A lot of questions are for personal opinions. If someone has the same answer as another, they may have a different point to add to that opinion. Not all questions have only one answer. If you are asking for an opinion then answers could potentially be endless.
I agree that some people are lazy and just want to do as little work for as much money as they can get. I like mylot because I enjoy writing my opinion down and debating with strangers :) The couple cents that are thrown in are a bonus.

This varies from case-to-case. I always try to read the discussion thoroughly to determine if I want to respond. If it is something where the discussion starter (in this case, you) was looking for one specific answer, I read through the responses to make sure that your question had not already been addressed. However, if it is an open-ended discussion (like this one) I may or may not read the other responses as what they have answered will have no effect on what I respond with.

I see. I like to hear different perspectives so I read the responses, but if there is a response that is irrelevent and uninteresting, I will stop reading and go to the next. :)

Well, I think you are not the only one. You are just unlucky that most of your respondents are the ones who are not paying attention to the topic seriously. I do read the whole topic discussion first before I respond. That is why I avoid responding to long topic discussions as I don't really read them, hence, I won't be able to comment on those topics properly. But I must admit that sometimes I really don't read the comments or the other responses of the topic discussion. Especially if the discussion already has a lot of responses before I can comment on. It is quite tedious to do so so I just skip on them and answer the topic discussion directly. Just be nice to respond back to those who answered out of topic from your discussion. You can tell them about it in a nice way. Plus it can be an added earning for both of you if you can keep the discussion open.

I do respond courteously, but it is frustrating when someone writes that the exact questions of my discussion are a topic for another discussion lol. Don't get me wrong I thought it was pretty entertaining at the same time. It is just a little tireing. I do appreciate responses from different perspectives, but I would like my questions answered also. In this discussion, I wasn't really looking for too many answers, I was just "ranting" lol, but I love that I recieved so many responses, so thank you. :)

I was actually going to answer the question in this discussion by talking about going grocery shopping Friday and about the price of corn flakes in an attempt to try to be funny.I read your other discussions as well as this one, so I could understand more completely this discussion.
I noticed teedelydoo2 that you have not responded to many of the people that do get involved in your discussions. I realize of course we do get late comers. Many members do the same as well, some don’t respond to any discussion they start.
Myself, I do read the discussions, in relation to how I wish to involve myself with them and respond to mostly every comment that takes part in a discussion I’ve created. I think everyone does things a little different and that’s perhaps to be expected.

Yes there are a few discussions that I started that I didn't respond to. I have a filter in my email for mylot so that all of my mylot emails go into a folder and I moved back to Oregon to go back to work after living with my husband while he is deployed in California. I didn't have time to use the computer while I was home and I have been back in California for a while, but I forgot that I had a filter for mylot. I was wondering why I didn't have any notifications from mylot, and then I found the folder a few days ago, so I am working on that. I don't respond to all comments because I don't feel that all of them need a response, or I have nothing interesting to say to some comments, so I figure why waste people who read the comments' time in writing something that won't even be interesting. I guess maybe I should tell everyone that I appreciate their response even if I don't respond to every comment, at the end of every discussion I start. :) Thanks for your response. I also think that the the shopping for corn flakes would have been funny lol

Oh don't be a braggart , my friend. You are not the only one who does that.
I do that also. I read the discussion first before i answer. And to the responses to my discussions, i would really comment back on them, cause if i don't, i will not earn from my discussions.
Now, if any response to my discussions gets a bit confusing , i clarify.

I can't speak for everyone of course but as for myself, yes I do read the discussions before replying to them. I expect the same from people who reply to my discussions. Now if the discussion is too lengthy then I'll be honest I wont bother to read it simply because I don't always have a lot of time, but the ones I don't read I also don't reply to either.

I do try to be as descriptive as possible when answering those questions that I do have an interest in. However you are right about some people, they just want to throw something in there, either it be a correct answer or a totally different answer than you would expect to see. It's call they just want to get it done and over with, so they can hurry to the next one. I don't know if this answers all of your question, but it's a try. Thanks

I understand your frustrations as I am new to myLot and have already seen some really strange stuff out there.
For me, I think it will be difficult to read all of the comments to the discussions and if I decide to post, my respone (hopefully) will not be EXACTLY like someone elses. Maybe a fresh spin on what someone else has written perhaps.
I DO read the entire discussion because that is the only way I know if I should respond. :)
