I´m feeling better after a week at the hospital

Hi friends, You know that I did not have much trouble with my chemo. I finished it and thought it was time to celebrate as the report said "on remission". But as I was starting to begin the parties, I caught a virus that many children are having here. It´s not terrible, expept if you are with a very low white cell count. So I was bedridden for 5 days before my doctor said that I must check in at the hospital to have some tests. I was a week there, first with the virus, then with my defenses dangerously low. Finally they let me go home but I´m slowly getting some strenght after being over 10 days in bed. JEEZZZ!!! A virus can be more bothersome than cancer! Now I´m starting to have friends over again, but I´m still eating light meals. Next week, on Tuesday, I have an appointment with my doctor. I hope all goes well as I have to have some blood tests first to see how all is doing. Thanks to all the friends who have asked for me and my health.

OH, dear "guicha"...I was just about to PM you, as I so missed your presence here! I was so praying that you were so enjoying your gardens and the sunshine, you were just taking a break! But if has been bad news...viruses are such nasty things...and here they are very prevalent at season changes, very virulent ones! BUT, I can't imagine how difficult it was for you, being in hospital (best place for you) with the weather of spring calling you! This is the last time, marguicha...it's onwards and upwards for you from now on...just the best of happiness and health! Please take your time recuperating..I know it is hard for some-one as spunky as you...LUV ya!

Baby type food, does nothing to intrigue your appetite...and I know it is difficult to have to force it down...but you need your strength! Hopefully it won't be long before you can introduce pureed home-made soups, and that should intrigue your appetite! And I see where you have responded elsewhere tht you cannot have the meal replacement drinks...so there is not much to tempt you! Are your nights cooler than the usual spring...our's were, well into our very late spring...and it really slows down all of the nightshade family...my tomatoes were very slow, this year...but I still do have a few in the greenhouse...and I think they will end up being fried green tomatoes for Christmas Dinner! I can't believe how fast 3 months have trooped by...back for tests on Monday..but the nice thing is now I can get the scan and two biopsies all done at one visit..that saves me a huge amount of money and time! We had unusually high winds for about 11 days...and 5 of those I was without internet, so I do somewhat know the feeling! PLEASE..you take very special care...in my prayers and love!

I never take volunteer breaks from mylot, pergammano, as I´m completly addicted. But at the hospital they did not have a connection to internet so my daughter could not lend me her laptop. I hate my stomach, but I hope this will go away. Meanwhile I´m eating just baby food of sorts. I take a small look at my garden and my tomatoes already have 3 tiny tomatoes. They are not the round kind. The round ones are taking their time.

Dear friend, I have discovered that if food doesn´t appeal to me, my stomach will not like it either. In less than a week I´ll have my doctor´s appointment and I hope she will have suggestion about havong my tummy in good shape again. December is our hottest month but it seems that even my inner thermostate is not very good. Some days I even get cold enough to wear a sweater when everyone else is sleeveless. I hope your tests go well. Do keep me informed. I´ll be sending you positive energy. It seems that for us both next week will be very meaningful. Let´s hope for the best.

Thanks, friend. I cannot yet eat veggies except carrots and boiled celery. I am still on a strict diet. And I´m too weak to excercise, but I hope I´ll get better. Today I did not feel so well, but it seems I will have to go on eating food that´s only for babies for a while. Every time I eat something a little out of limits, my stomach hurts.

Hello dear, please don't worry everything will be fine. Just take care of your health and follow the doctor's instructions. Also, don't forget the medications; it should be on time only... Take care... :-)

Oh dear. that is bad news - you caught the virus. Dear, you should have been watchful. I am not that sure if they do it at your place or not, but here, at some hospitals, they give the chemo patients a list of things to avoid after the last one as chemo does weaken the body's resistance powers. But the good news is that you are better today and also done with the chemos. I wish you a great health

I hope that this is finding you doing better, and you like many others in here have been on my thoughts and Prayers. When you get sick when your defenses are down it does not make it fun, and can be frustrating for sure. But just always remember many times we will continue to face things in life we do not always understand. But just remember to Pray each day trusting God to see you thru and one day looking back you will know it was really worth it all.

It´s a good thing you have a family and friends. It means so much for us all. Feeling happy helps to heal the body and now that you can eat fresh vegetables, I hope, it helps to build up the immunity. Veggies are so important, as the minerals remove the acidity and cancer likes only acid environment..and so do most other health problems. Fresh air with plenty of oxygen heals too. And the vitamin D from the sun.. Wish you many great summer days and lots of flowers..

Dear friend, you are going through a lot - but it´s good to eat carrots and celery, of course. Carrots have carotenoids and even if you cook them, they may help your immunity. Your body can use them more easily if you add virgin olive oil, which I hope you are allowd to eat... If you can sit outdoors and have some sun and maybe walk a bit, you will have a lot of benefits of that. I do hope you will get better soon, and I also hope that your garden will be a great pleasure this summer..

I always have my veggies with vigin olive oil. I did not ask the doctor if I could have it, because I was afraid she´d say no. But now, a week later, I´m much better. Today I ate baked stuffed zuchinni. A miracle of good taste!!! Just eggs, bread crums and a bit of freid diced green onions. YUMMY!

I agree that the infections can be a major problem. I remember when I was in chemo the last time that I would wind up with high fevers and have to go to the ER as a precaution. I was later put on a preventative antibiotic to prevent further urinary tract infections and so far it has helped. I just hope that when I start on chemo again that I don't start having the infections again.

I'm a little confused. You say the shots were expensive and the insurance didn't cover them but that the hospital didn't cost anything including the shots. Did the hospital "eat" the cost of the shots since the insurance didn't cover them?

THey gave me some special shots (quite expensive and the insurance doesn´t cover them) to get my defenses up. Unfortunatly they did not use that fter the chemo and I ended up in the hospital. Quite dumb, I would say. I asked about it. As it was, the hospital cost me nothing (shots included) but the insurance paid a lot.

Thanks for your concern. Jo. I went to the doctor today and I´m much better. But it will take a month before I can eat all types of food. I am sad because I get hungry, I want to eat, but my stomach doesn´t like that. I have to eat a lot like a baby

I´m starting to feel a lot better, Jo. I have more energy and my stomach accepts more foods. I´m treating myself as a baby though because if I have to be at the hospital again I´ll get the depression I did not have when I learned I had cancer. Hospital food is icky. I could not eat food so badly made so I almost starved there. Now everything is better, but I´m going one step at a time

After watching others who have been through chemo, I know that you have poisoned your body with chemo and it can take a long time for your body to recover. Please don't rush this, keep your exposure to others, especially children down as much as possible. Pamper yourself, you have been through alot. Blessings

Your words are wise, friend. I´m doing that and in just one week I´m feeling a lot better. I have started to eat other foods but just little by little, as you teach a baby to eat. It has been a good idea.

Thank you, catdla. I have discovered that the end of chemo is not the end of everything. Every time I try to eat a bit of something that´s not strict dieting, I have digestive problems. It seems I will have to wait before celebrations begin.

no wonder I was missing my friend and I was beginning to worry, just take some extra precaution since our resistance is naturally low after a chemo. Avoid crowds for the meantime(so sorry, it's Christmas season), remember besides virus, bacteria is also a threat, low white blood cells means lesser soldiers to fight off an infection. Take good care friend, we continue to pray for your good health here

Thanks you so much, Louie. I will have to behave as I don´t want to be at the hospital ever again, if I can help it. I thought that after the chemo ended, I could take things lighter, but it seems it takes a long time for the body to heal.

Welcome back from hospital. It is a good news you are ok now. You know, i think health is the biggest fortune we can have. When i have a fever or headache, i feel so weak and don't want to do anything, and even the most delicious food put before me, i don't have any appetite. Well, at the time, i think being healthy is so good. Even i don't have much money, it is ok. Take care and wish you always healthy and happy!
