Do you find our behavior towards online activities strange?

When we are working for others, we are dying to go home. Even when we are on the way to work, we hope that time would fly and we can go home soon. That is even before we reach the office. That is despite getting many times the amount that we can earn online. Yet when we work online for peanut (a miserable sum of money), we do not seem to want to get offline. We can even work till we forget the time or refuse to sleep when it is time for us to go to bed. Why do we think we have such behavior? Do you think our behavior is strange?

When we get excited to something we will do everything to keep in touch with that thing. That called an addict, and as long as it's still in normal situations and conditions. For me, that OK.

Hi Devilova, yes, we usually forget the time when we are enjoying ourselves very much. I think online activities are really very enjoyable. if only we can work at home on online activities, and earn as much, then we will be much happier. Just too bad that most of us cannot rely on our online earning for daily expenses. I think some of us would want to work from home even if we get less money, as long as we can still survive and have some savings.

For me, it is all about doing what I enjoy. I didn't enjoy getting up every morning just to be chained to a desk for 8+ hours a day. I find that working online makes me feel some sort of freedom and that working until all hours of the morning is just my way of taking advantage of that freedom. Plus, I find it rather addicting. Better than some of the other alternatives, right?

Hi Dwetherell, yes, I hate to get chained to the desk and computer for more than eight hours a day too. The worst is to have boss telling you that everything is urgent, when it is really not so urgent. I think online is about freedom and choices. We can work at our own pace, and do things that are really enjoyable. Sites such as mylot also does not set a minimum quota. If mylot starts to set minimum quota in order to get paid, I think many people will leave. That will become like work, and not fun anymore.

good day scheng1, upon reading your main topic, only one thought comes out from my mind. as the main reason maybe, the business where we work for as an employee is not our own. that, no matter how hard we try to work for it, at the end, the owner will still get the profit of our labor. hence, the owner who will benefit the fruits of the tree that we planted. no matter how we tried our best, the bottomline, we are still the worker that has only a limited salary. on the other way around, if we know that, what we are working for is our own business, no matter how exhausted we are, we will still work, work and work. thus, we tend to ignore the time and day since the one that we are doing is for our own welfare. and this behaviour is common to all. hence, we tend to work thoroughly especially if we own the business. and, at the end of it, we will be the one who will get the benefits of our labor.

Hi Airasheila, actually when we work online, most of us are working for others too. Like here, the administrator gains even though they do not participate as much in the discussion threads. However, we have the satisfaction of airing our views and still getting paid for it. The admin in Mylot also does not control our activities as in setting the working hours or whatever. i think freedom is one factor that makes online earning very fun. When we are working at our job, most of us do not have freedom to control our schedule or activities.

Well because I think we are naturally self-serving...nothing wrong with that as long as we don't hurt anybody, that's the reason why even though we earn so little here but since we are doing it for ouselves alone then we enjoy it...or is it just because we enjoy it and we don't mind the earnings at all?? Whatever...I don't see anything wrong with that...

Hi Marapplestiffy, I think we are glad of the earnings, even though it is pretty miserable. Since most of us are using the Internet for socializing, we might as well find a place to socialize and to earn from it. I think self-serving is good if we apply in the right way. For example, we have to take care of our interest first, before taking care of others. In this case, we will be happy, and others will be happy too. If we do not take care of our own, then something is obviously wrong with our mentality.

Hello scheng1, I am internet lover but i get lesser time to be online but whatever time i get to be online i utilize it to the fullest even though i feel sleepy i don't go to bed while surfing net.I do online activities for fun not much for earning but its pleasure feeling when i get a residual earnings by having fun from friends. Those people who don't do offline jobs and rely on online activities yes they have to devote much time for online activities that they would devote for offline if they had offline jobs because they need to work hard for online earnings and they know that they are boss of their own so they do it.*hehehe* [

Hi Svjg, same here, after a whole day working, I do not have much time left for online activities. Online activities are very fun. The earning is not the most important factor, but the fun of it is. I also like residual income for doing the things i like. I think the residual income serves more like a motivator. I also feel that I am my own boss when doing online tasks, since i can control my effort, and have the luxury of working from home.

What you said is right.the money we earn online is rarely, but we all love online,we forget the time ,day and night.with a famous saying of Satre, existance namely is reasonable. I want to say all of the human behavior has its own reason.

Hi, yes, that is true. We love online activities, since that is the time when we feel most alive. When we are working in our full time job, we do not always feel alive. In fact, we know that our bosses think of us as dispensable assets, like those machines and equipments. If we get very sick, our bosses may terminate our service, and hire someone else to do the work. That is a reality, and we cannot run away from that. When we work online, we are feeling very much alive, and happy, and we can share our real thoughts.

More likely because we have fun online. although earnings online may not be substantial, we like what we are doing and money is just a consolation. We felt that work is dragging and when it feels that way, maybe its time for us to spread our wings to another job where we can feel fulfilled and appreciated. Online work sometimes is like that. We get recommendations immediately and feel appreciated. So whether you are just chatting with your friends online or getting your fingers fixed in the keyboard for us, as long as you feel fulfilled, keep doing it.

Hi Iglara, yes, that is how I feel about online earnings too. i think another factor is that we can see our earnings update regularly, at least once a day. I think the current practice of paying a fixed salary in the workplace, and then promoting people who can talk very well, but never do much work, is also a factor to turn us away from enjoying our work. If the bosses like people to praise them, then they will turn off the motivation of those hardworking people.

hello scheng, i think its the comfort level that comes from working from home that makes us do much more even if we get only peanuts as compared to a regular job where we make much more. When we do our own thing from home we are our own boss and we wrork as and when we please. However when on a regular job we have the hassle of commuting in rain or shine, besides we don`t know how the day will pan out.All this makes working from home more of a pleasure even if the returns are meagre.

Hi Veejay, yes, working online is very pleasant, and working at the comfort of our home is really a joy. I think even if we were to work from home for our full time employment, we will not find it so pleasant. After all, we have performance appraisals to worry about when working for others, and we have to fight for more salary increment or bonus. When it comes to working online, what we earn is based on our effort, no such pressure of fighting for more pay or bonus.

Online activities are so power full that many got addicted to the internet, because working online makes one totally concentrated on the topics chosen, and the facility on the net is so easy that we can surf any site instantly which is more advantageous in not wasting the time. Hence,it is not strange but the working style makes one totally engrossed on the-online work.

Hi Busybee, nice way of putting it. it is true that we can choose our style of working, and the activities we want to do at any moment. We can even choose to play games for a while before continuing our money making activities. Some games even pay us for playing. If only our full time job provides such varieties and freedom, we would definitely enjoy working. Just too bad that the fun activities online do not pay so well.

hi , it is human behavior to urge for more and multiple benefits of life. As of now i don't have such a behavior to be glued online if there are other important offline activities including sleeping at home or working at office. I think some times we are so much involved in what we do and just carry away because of the interest in our activities of that particular time- be it online or offline.

Hi Viju, actually we do not have a lot of time for online activities since we are all working full time. By the time we reach home, have dinner, and shower, it is very near to bedtime already. We may have just one or two hours to work online, and that is not enough when we are writing articles or reading articles or commenting on the works of other writers. That is probably the reason for sleeping a bit later than usual. If we have whole day free, we might not want to stay online for too long. We definitely will go and buy things or meet with friends, and enjoy other offline activities.

That's my way of life. I spend most of my time to the internet. I don't see something wrong with that although people find it strange always locked up in the computer. They are curious what is in the computer that we are always in to it. For me, internet is very important. But studying is the most important.

Hi Cearn, if you happen to take up an online degree, you would spend even more time online. Over here, one of the universities has online degree courses. The degree courses are meant for working adults. They can study online by watching the lecturer lecturing online, and they can use the computer to interact with the tutors when they have questions to ask. They can access the coursework online, and the digital library too. I think that is great because many people need to work late or travel for business. It is better that they catch up on their coursework when they are back home. They can even watch the same lecture many times since all these are uploaded after the online lecture is given.

Yes, my life is the internet sometimes. Because its all I really have sence I work on the water for 20 days at a time. It is my bahavior that I don't want to stop and keep going online till my fingers bleed, because on this boat its the only amusment I ever get durring my whole 20 days out. However I do enjoy my 10 days off when it comes time to get off.

Hi EavesJ, your job sounds boring but then you have the best of both worlds. You can even use your free time onboard to work online. Fortunately you have computer and internet access onboard, otherwise it is extremely boring. I think the 10 days off are very good. If I have such work, I would really earn a good fortune from both online sources and full time job.

I don't really experience that kind of behavior. Well, I'll admit that I'm a computer lover but not to the point that it's all that I think about. Of course I still focus more on my studies and hanging out with my friends.
