I found a torture device in the bathroom today. You put it against your eye and curl the lashes! What on earth?!! Just how do women put up with these devices? More importantly - why? Just the mascara now. Oh look. There's a little wand to poke into my..... OW!

It's just our way of trying have you guys raise your eyes up to our faces. Maybe it would be more effective to stop shaving our underarms and use the curler and mascara there. We women might end up with a stiff neck for trying that, but at least our eyes would be intact. What do you think?

I can't be bothered with all that, have never been bothered. I like the natural look and plus I can find many other better things to do with my life than stand in the bathroom and do these awful things

Then P1key my dear you need to get a device called a no no..it says it keeps you from having to shave so often..and the boss and your girls would love it also..who wouldn't love shaving less often..I mean..there's waxing but owie..that is way worst experience in my opinion.

Oh well, I don't really use lash curlers...they hurt the eye and it really looks too much if you curl it like that...but I'd admit that I use mascara all the time...it's one of my must haves...foundation, mascara, eye-liner and a lip-gloss...well, I'm used to it so there's nothing to it for me, but I can't really get blush-ons...just can't seem to make them look natural, I'd end up looking like a clown!!! So, I stick to the familiar...

Many women do use mascara. I am not sure why because some of them end up looking like pandas! LOL.

Ouch, lash curlers. Those hurt me, I refuse to use them. The extent of things people use when it comes to putting on makeup astounds me. I only bare-bones it with some mascara and eyeliner, and only on special occasions since I can't be bothered at any other time to try and put any makeup on.

I never have used one and cannot understand why anyone wants to. I hate mascara as well as it gets in your eyes and hurts. As to why women use them it is because they are told almost from birth that this is what women do when they go out of the house. They are brainwashed into believing that they must invent a new face, that their face is just not good enough. Those that take this message, which is designed just to sell makeup, too much to heart will have the surgery to try and fix a problem that does not exist. The plastic surgeons are the worst and it is all about making money. These days I never wear makeup. I used to wear a little occasionally but I hate it, I hate the feel on my skin and I hate wasting time on it. After all I do not have to look at my face so its not my problem. lol. Natural is best. My boss, who was a woman, used to try and get me to wear makeup and high heeled shoes but it was not official dress code so she could not force me and I just would not do it. Look neat and tidy is all I had to do. There was nothing that said torture was required.

It was not a generalisation it was a personal opinion. Concealer for spots, mascara and lipstick was the only sort of makeup I ever used and I still have the ones I bought 10 years ago. I hardly ever use it. I prefer looking natural and if other people do not like it then it is not my problem, they just have to look away. My mother used to put her face on as she called it. Took her ages to try and get it right and then worry about the makeup gettin on her clothes. The down side is that it can cake the face and make it rigid if you use too much, the mascara runs and gets in your eyes, the lipstick leaves marks on every glass and cup you use. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to remove all the gunk before bed because if you don't you can leave marks on the bedding and it all looks horrible. Oh and then there is the stinging in the eyes from the gunk you have to use to remove it. Hmmm all way too much trouble for my taste.

I don't know why but I had an image of you arm folded saying "shan't" just then! LOL. I absolutely agree with you. Curling then sticking black gunk into you eyes is not my idea of fun at all. But millions do it everyday.

Hi Pikey, Guess you could call mascara a torture device, but I have worn it for years and when you get used to putting it on then it is quite easy-as the saying goes make-up makes a girl what she aint- it may be true but make-up put on properly is only meant to enhance your looks. Also when using mascara that is meant to enhance your eyes. Even my mum still wears it and would never go out without make-up on! lol LoLo

You are so cheeky at times Pikey!lol But if you seriously want to know how being female isyou would find that being a man is a lot easier! Hugs LoLo

Mann i hate those too! I am not really one who is fond of putting a mascara and curling my lashes.. i fear i might tear my lashes off and it wont grow back! lol but it does grow back, my best friend who is fond of curling, she over curled it to the point her lashes tore..or broke..or whatever but it did grow back. I only use mascara occasionally..like on parties but last june where we had this party i did not even bother putting mascara on because it is not comfortable and i dont think it made a difference..or on opinion it did not make a difference because i am not fond of using one...oh well

Oh yeah, they are bizarre creatures those women. They do some weird things to themselves which I would class as torture. Like waxing for example! Man, my missus has just introduced this habit to my daughter recently. What a sadistic $%*#@!

Been there done that with the mascara wand! Never used them mechanical eye curlers reminds me of a visit to the gyn and what those contraptions they use on us. My son works at a Club where adult teens come A girls false eyelash was coming off as she entered the club and my son told her she had something hanging from her eye. She stopped right there and ripped the suckers off and laid them on the entrance booth. My son comes home and says there are some sick women out there!

Oh, you are talking about the lash curler! Well, for me , mascara is enough to brighten and beautify my eye. I don't use lash curler anymore. I had enough of those, when i was in college. It destroyed my lashes, making them lesser and shorter. Now, i don't use them anymore.

I've never used either one....but I think someone used mascara on me on my wedding day (I was too excited to notice how it felt). Are the curlers heated before being used? I don't even use eye make-up...so I wouldn't know. But I'm thinking of experimenting with Indian kohl just to check if it can make my eyes look beautiful.

pikey dont laugh well do really but the only time i tried the wand with the mascara I did poke myself in the eye and got the crap in mye and had to have my husband wash my eye out before it did something bad to me. he said dont ever do that again, you have pretty eyes,so leave them alone. oh I was all for that believe me. I do use eye shadow but not mascara and as for curling my eyelashes they are not all that long.,what we women will not do and usually its all the guys faulgt as we want to look good for our guys. well thats really a cop out i guess but I just do not want stuff in my eyes. I am near sighted as it is and do not want to l ose any more sight. lol. so You think you need lessons, just try out the curl thingy then. so I am actually a bit afraid of mascara . let other women play wi th it. lol.

Women do many things I do not understand. Should you look good? Sure why not? But why do you have torture yourself to look good? You can't look attractive and beautiful without that whatever? I have yet to see one man anywhere on this planet, that said "Hey guys! Check out the eye lashes on her!" and all the guys all stare to the left.... No. It does not happen. Or doing up those finger nails. Really? Really?! "Guys looks at *those* nails!" !! Wow! No. Now should you look good? Sure. Look as good as you can. But my sister walks around in high heals. Pregnant and high heals on in the winter time, and complaining her feet are cold. Well no duh, that's stupid. Put your feet flat on the ground, and put some warm boots on. Be reasonable girls. Really.

I've got one of those and have only used it ONCE! What a waste of time eyelash curlers are. Granted, if I was in my 20s using them it probably would work (eyelashes are thicker anyway then as far as I know) but now? Er, no. I'd much rather buy a decent mascara but, even then it's Hit and Miss!

Haha, I agree with you, it is really hard to make yourself pretty especially for women. I don't even curl my lashes, it hurts putting on eyeliner sometimes and the mascara is so hard to take off. But that's just the price of wanting to look pretty.
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I hadn't given the thought of taking it off much attention. How do you remove it?
