I am an ametuer writer and I have been writing since I was old enough to pick up a pencil. I regulary get ideas and start them but then within writing about a chapter or two I hit the dreaded memory block and can not seem to get over to be able to finish whatIi have written. I literally have hundreds of novels, poems, short stories, fanfics and lyrics sitting around my room unfinished. One of my New Years Resolutions is to finish one of the novels I have already started writing. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to overcome my memory blocks so that I can finally finish at least one of my novels. Please.

You must get into the habit of writing everyday, at a set time and place. Just write, no matter what it is, and stop trying to censor yourself when you write. Maybe it's garbage, but at least you're writing something. Personally I've never had writer's block, just procrastination, lol. Good luck.

I´m a short story writer in my own language. I discovered a long time ago that I could not write novels, drama or poetry. I decided that I would do what I can do best. I would advise you to think what genre would suit you best to put in words what you want to say. After that, put away the rest and start working at your thing.

I think it depends on what is being blocked. Is it the overall plot, a particular scene or sub-plot or will you characters just not behave?
Perhaps a writers group might be of help to you, where you can discuss characters or plot in general terms but without revealing your entire novel.
Even the best writers get blocked at times.
You could also see where you have got to and then do a bit of research around the part where you are stuck to see if there is something out there that inspires you.
Good luck!
