With the popularity of National Treasure and the Da Vinci Code, Freemasonry has become a talking point among a lot of people... so, my question is: is anyone in your family a Freemason, or do you know anyone that is one? And what are your thoughts on the actual Masonic society?

I am member of this fraternity and I can say that it is more than reach the eye. There is a mystical bond that we all share. I joined freemasonry when I was 22 and I am having fun with our fellowship, meetings and charity work. I also would like to encourage you all to watch this short film about freemasonry: http://youtube.com/watch?v=x42AGtb0jkw&mode=related&search=Masons%20freemasons%20freemasonry%20conspiracy%20alex%20jones%20new%20world%20order%20illuminati

I know a few Masons, but they are much older than I am (theyr are well over 60) and I have never met a young one. I don't really have an opinion on them because I grew up around these people. I never thought they were bad or had a negative thought about them. I just knew they were in a ultra-secrative society and they did a lot for the community.

You know a few Masons? What do you know about them? Are they good men or bad? If they are of the same quality as those I know, they are men of integrity and are respected in their community. Yes, there has been a renewed interest in Masonry brought on, in part, by the DaVinci/Treasure movies. Accordingly, at least in Oklahoma, the average age has dropped to around 30 from the previous age of around 70. My son joined at 18. As for ultra secretive, you can find out just about anything you want to know about masonry on the internet...not a very well kept secret.

It's a tradition in my family. Growing up I was in their youth organization as an adult I joined the Eastern Star (for females) all the males in my family are Master Masons..I think you need to know to seperate Free Masonory from Knights Templars..The idea came from there but it's not the same. Knight's Templars were disbanded long before they started..

As far as numbers I think in some lodges they have gone up in recent times with the introduction of the various movies. I have heard some lodges have had a great increase because of this. I think it is good and bad some people join for hope of networking and business gain and some just want that ring and they are done. When I first got interested most lodges only had a few younger members which was to bad. The lodge I petitioned has a great interest in bring younger guys in and shaking things up. I like that because some lodges are set in their personal ways and don't do much. I think manylodges should be more active than just meetings. I think lectures would be a plus and also if guys wanted to meet on a non business day this should be open as a possibility as well. I think in any given lodge a few members get together more often than business meetings we could make real progress. As far as the group itself I have a great attraction in going through the degrees and side orders. I think there are some areas that should be addressed for sure but for the most part it has been something I have bee looking for and never knew. Well at least what it has to offer I never knew the extent. As far as family members the first person in my line to set foot in America was became a Mason and the first island settlement in my line was a starter of a lodge and so on. So it has been in my family for sometime. I was aware of Masonry from a very early age and at the early age all they told me it was a secret society and was like cool heh.

Well I was a member of the Rainbow Girls way back when I was 14 but that was about it. I knew a few members back then but now I don't know any of them at all. For those who don't know the Rainbow Girls is a branch of the Masonic lodge for teenage girls to join. Overall I think the Masonic Organization is a great one. It does a lot of good and stands for a lot of ideals that are admirable. I wish now I had stayed active with them and moved on up to the Women's group they have.

I haven't been to lodge in 6 years, I moved away from my home lodge and haven't been able to go to the local lodge. Now I have the urge to go. So I can't really tell you if membership has gone up or not. I am the 5th generation to join and the last in my line to join (no male heirs) and the females in my family could really care less. They say it's my thing. But that's ok with me.
