Well I don't follow sports, unless it involves fishing or 9 Ball :)
But I was raised about 60 miles north of Toronto and we had a family that had 17 kids and they were all boys until #17, finally a little girl they could all spoil.
Anyways, back to the Leafs. This family had their own sport team for anything and everything and one year The Toronto Maple Leafs Challanged them to a game and they beat our boys pretty bad, but it was still pretty cool talk in the town for a long time.

Sorry, the cup is coming to Buffalo this year!!! I have been an avid Sabres fan since the 1970's, and it's about time! Do you remember the "No Goal" game in the finals with Dallas? What a heartbreaker that was. I'm still not over it! We just be Nashville 7 to 2 tonight. GO SABRES!

I only tend to follow their games when it comes to the end of the season/playoffs, so I'm not sure how they are doing this season. The last game I saw was against the canadiens, and they lost during a shootout.
The only game I saw in person was last season - they won 7-0. I don't even remember who they were playing against (it was either boston or buffalo) but they pulverized them. If only their performance was consistently that good.
Maybe this year is their year with new leadership (who is the new coach, BTW?).. One can only hope. GO LEAFS GO!

I remember watching the Leafs win the cup in '67! Perhaps if we all visualize them winning the cup and sending them positive energy there might be a chance! Maybe then they'd stop having stupid penalties and being so cocky!

Unfortunately, six years after this discussion of yours was posted, the Leafs hasn't gotten the cup yet. They've already made a lot of changes, including getting Burkie, and firing Wilson this year, but still they're still far off. But BB still think they are close. That they are on course. That they only need a new center, new goalie, a couple of forwards, a couple of defensemen...

Did you see last nights game versus Pittsburgh? Great game. One of our former local players from the OHL team we have is on the Leafs so we find it difficult at times when he plays against the team we love most (Pitts). They definitely have a good chance at getting into the cup standings but I'm thinking Buffalo is might find themselves there this year for sure!

Getting into the playoffs can mean getting into the stanley cup. I mean, remember when Calgary had their run to game 7 of the finals? Who thought that would happen!

I do not see this drought ending soon to be honest. Their general manager has made poor decisions over the years when he tries to improve his team. The players try hard each night but talent is definitely lacking.
I would be surprised if the Leafs even make the playoffs this year based on their performance so far.

I have to tell you that at the time you posted this discussion I maight have said yes. However, at this point in time, there are 2 games to go and they are still 1 point out of the playoffs! While it is still possible, I would'nt place alot of money on that bet!

to tell u the truth the leafs seem to go to the most to try to win but when the time comes to win they don't seem to have the luck to win they lose instead. If the leafs had a proper owner and people to run the team they would maybe have a chance at winning the stanley cup.
