I only had the chance to travel within the Southeast Asian region, Taiwan and China. For me, the cheapest that I have been to is in Cambodia. Everything there is very cheap. The food, the market, the tour, the hotel are inexpensive but mind you they are all ok. I had booked a 4 star hotel which we really liked for only USD35.00 per person for a 3D/2N stay. It was so amazingly cheap but everything in the hotel, we really really like.

I traveled on Ryan Air from London to Trieste in Italy. Then I took a bus down to Dubrovnik. On that cheap trip I visited Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. On First Choice Airlines I got a return ticket from London to the Bulgarian coast. I used trains to travel around Bulgaria and Romania. That was also a very inexpensive trip. Prices are low in Eastern Europe. I took a Ryan Air flight from Bristol to Riga in Latvia. I loved exploring Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. I found prices fairly inexpensive apart from in Tallinn. I managed to get some long haul very cheap flights on First Choice Airlines. I paid just two hundred pounds from London to Cancun in Mexico. I used that as a cheap way to get to Belize and Guatemala. I was able to stay in a tree house, go on an exciting cave adventure and climb Mayan ruins. I found Guatemala a bargain destination. Now flight prices and airport taxes are high cost for long haul destinations.

About everywhere :-) Coming from Norway, I only need to go across the border to Sweden and the prices drop at once. Most other places are also quite a lot cheaper, the cheapest place I've been lately was Riga.

It depends what you want to do and where you are traveling from really. For example visiting South America or Africa as an American and back-packing is really a great vacation and just amazing to see the beauty etc and won't leave you in debt for years to come.
