Hello Lotters, It's been a problem to every single people who has gain weight and has problems of loosing weight and that is either to stop or lessen the consumption of rice. before I thought it was alright to eat a lot and safe, later a couple of people told me it can cause sickness too for eating too much rice, some said it can be bad for too much. I know some who has grown up not getting used to it and can eat other food like bread or potatoe mash, etc. but in here, you are NEVER FULL with out the rice. My brother once tried to deperately loose weight by not eating rice, instead he ate a lot of viands. in the long run he couldn't take or refuse to eat rice and now he's eating more of it. But Some days i have been eating trying to eat less, who says you have to stop eating rice, when it's part of the dish

Ok, I have not done much research on rice, so I may not understand, but I thought rice was filling and low in fat and calories.. What about organic brown rice? That would be even better and have a nice nutty flavor to satisfy cravings..

Yes it is more expensive, but you don't have to eat as much and since it is healthier, that means less money going to health problems.. I have completely switched over from white bread to wheat bread and I find I can eat less and I feel great..

Hello Carmela, Actually it depends on the kind of rice that we eat Just like what my friend Albert said, brown rice has less calories and more on fiber.Unfortunately, Brown Rice aren't that demanding and doesn't have that much supply over the market, not to mention it's quite expensive.Have a nice day.

Hi Letran Knight: I love rice but sure not that much as my little sister does so for me I must say that I can live withou rice for a while even if I eat it at least 4 times a week because in my house we eat it a lot. I love rice when is prepared with something else, there are so many recipes. But just rice, I like it but it's just ok for me. ALVARO

People who grow up with a different staple can surely refuse rice with an ease, I know a person who hates rice(he is American) his main staple is potato. You can try brown rice,it has less calories and high in fiber. You can also try replace rice with Cauliflower rice (if you chopped cauliflower in a blender or food processor, and steam or bake it) it tasted like rice and feels like rice. You can search recipes in youtube. I think Filipinos need to be recultured and learn to eat other staples. It can solve obesity and hunger in our country if we have other staple aside from rice. we were rice depended for centuries.

Hello Captain Albert, It depends on the culture, most Asian Countries are mostly focus with Rice and viands as a very good combination. I have tried brown rice sometimes and it felt weird but great. unfortunately, only white rice is something that we could only afford for the moment. Nope I think we are good with rice already, it's their choice if they want other staple with the viands. have a nice day.

Hello Smilemoon, it has already taken affect on me for days i think. right now am doing my best to lessen the consumption of the rice itself. besides, i don't think i can sit well with rice on my belly that is too much

I have also tried loosing weight but I just can't get through without eating rice, I usually mixed meat with rice and I also put chili's on it, after doing it, my GOD, I finally noticed I can consume all the things that i've cooked.. Here in my country, Rice is one major thing that is needed on our dining table.. despite knowing that I'll get fat with it, I do't know, I just can't control eating it..

HI Letran! Since rice is command dish for most Asian, absolutely we can't refused rice in our life. Even if for those people who are in certain diets they still will eat rice a little if not in regular portion. We eat rice everyday and I don't think we can bear with eating bread everyday instead of eating rice. If we say that rice will make a person gain weight I think all food has something to do with gaining and losing weight process. The most important thing we need to care more is the amount intake. I believe that eating any food in correct amount will not give nay effect to the weight. DOn't push ourselves too hard. The more we try to stop eating it the more we crave for it...(^^)

Hello CTHanum, Even bread can't even afford to fill our stomachs unless you purchase a lot of bun (pandesal) which is actually near our place here. It depends on what we eat that makes us gain more weight. i believe with lack of exercise it's easy to gain pounds just like what I have been experiencing lately. maybe i should start regularizing my sleep and find a way to loose weight again. have a nice day.

No matter what happens, eating rice is my first priority, Rice, Dal and Potato mash is what I can prepare myself, this is the only one recipe I know. There are so many other dishes I have tasted in my life but Rice and Dal are my most favorite, I eat rice twice a day.

Hello Dollar, I guess your right too and rice happens to be one of the easiest staple to cook. Probably I should only lessen the consumption of the rice so that I won't have much problems on the gaining more weight. I don't mind eating rice but probably i should lessen it. have a nice day.

I love rice too! But it is actually bad if you eat too much, especially on the long run. I pretty much can eat other things too like Australian dishes but my parents have an asian background and they all cook dishes with rice in it. Rice has a lot of glucose and eating too much can raise your sugar levels which is pretty bad if you have diabetes or on the verge of getting them. My Mum's doctor said that eating to much rice was bad so my Mum has cooked other dishes but we still have rice. I just eat small proportions of rice but top it off with lots of meat and vegetables so they make up most of my dish compared to rice. Also eat other types of food like sandwiches or noodles. I heard that white rice is the worst, so you could choose an alternative like brown rice. I have tried it and it didn't taste all that great but who said healthy food tasted nice? It's always the really unhealthy ones that taste the best Also, exercise is another requirement to stay healthy too, not just eating healthy.

Hello Triple0, Unfortunately we don't have that much other dishes, In this regard I might consider not eating too much rice from today. I remembered that it can cause diabetes because of it's too much sugar. well, I for one have tasted healthy food and it's not as sweet as the other not healthy products but it's so sweet benefit to your body. have a nice day

Hello ardoy, I agree with you that we need to lessen the purchase of rice because this would ultimate good food. but unfortunately, you can't eat too much because it can also cause diabetes if you eat too much. i miss eating out on mang inasal but i haven't eaten there since Jolibee bought it huhuhu

Interesting perspective. Rice, and especially brown rice is very healthy and high in fiber, which is great for overall health. I don't know of anyone gaining weight by eating rice (definitely avoid the white stuff) and in Asia, where rice is consumed widely, the people are usually healthier than where no rice is consumed. With anything though, we want to make sure we are consuming a variety of foods for a variety of nutrients.

Hello Arieles, I am not sure about the white rice but definitely the brown rice is more organic and has more nutrients. I think people are healthier with rice consumed, it's how you balanced the way you eat your meals. Our Boxing Champion never missed the eating of rice thats why he always wins. Have a nice day.

I don't think we Asian people can stand without rice. Rice is our staple food. Take away rice and many will be reduced to skin and bones. I have been eating rice since I was a month old where mom used to boil watery rice and smash it finely using a wooden pastle. In those days blender was unheard of. since then I have been eating rice at every meal. Yes, rice has been listed as one of those sinful food to avoid for losing weight but they the diet experts are yet to see the many slim and sexy people of Asia who have eaten rice throughout their life and still maintaining their hourglass figures throughout their old age. Rice isn't the culprit of obesity but the dishes that accompany the rice at every meals.

Hello Zhandi, Yeah I agree we all grew up knowing rice has been part of our food for years. Hahaha you're right it's the dishes fault.I believe there was a woman who is actually a health food and vegetable advocate, she can eat a lot of food and yet retain her figure. I don't know must have been some diet procedure but i forgot all about it though. I think balance eating of rice is the key depends on your metabolism.

I can now. Last year actually, i really cannot refuse rice, its like something i need to have to feel full...even hubby. We would eat 3 to four servings of rice!! But this year, i found out my sugar level is high and i need to cut down some stuff that i eat and that would include rice. So i did, i realized that it is all in the mind conditioning. I now only eat rice once a day, its either breakfast or lunch..and none in the evening. I have these supplements to help me not loose the energy i need for work and family..so i did and it is successfully and i lost weight for the good. My sugar level is balance as of now..and hopefully i could still get through it especially the holiday seasons are near!! Imagine all the food in the table! yikes!!

I don't know if i can do that though probably it will be very very hard for my stomach to adjust, i get real headache if am not eating that much. probbably I should just do exercise even in Christmas. Have a nie day.

Rice is basic meal for us in Indonesia. I eat rice every day. I won't get my energy if I don't eat rice yet. I can't refuse to eat rice and every one can't do as well. Rice does not give weight to our body. So, we can not deny it with a bunch of reasons.

Hello sijabatnaburjut, RICE is also basic meal in the Philippines. some poor residents even eat rice only for daily living w/ only limited use of viands and more rice. Sometimes I envy those who can't afford to eat every thing and limit themselves. some eats a lot of rice, but then they don't loose weight. it's a good staple food for us. Have a nice day.

The reason why they say that you should eat too much rice is because it's very fattening so you gain weight more easily. At least that's what I have been told. I try not to eat too much rice, but it's hard for me because I love mixing a lot of my foods with rice. It's makes almost any meal taste a lot better.

Hello Robswife, Well, I don't need rumors for that, it has happened already in our situation. Indeed the rice actually makes a good mix with viands most specially if the viands aren't that many. good to know that you are also eating rice. Have a nice day.

when i cannot eat rice for a day..the following day, i can lots of it..it seems like it's not complete if there is no rice...just the right amount of rice is the best thing to do..not completely without it..or too much of it is not good too..

Hello Jadoixa, Hahaha who can't resist rice not even for a day. but probably if you live or work in another country then there is no way unless we got ourselves a strict diet. so much food is not good, in my case i do my best not to eat at night so tht I would be hungry in teh morning. have a nice day.

I really like rice too! i prefer the fried rice with all of the other veggies in it. But the white rice in a bowl of chili is also one of my favorite foods. Especially if the chili has a bit of sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes.

Hello Leolion80, I love fried rice as well.this is something that I love to eat every single morning. Not sure about the Chili combination though but i love it when it is added to the steak or something. as for the tomatoes, they use it when added for the chicken and other dishes. Have a nice day.
