It's expensive here also...and not afford to have that speed. That maybe good if we have a computer rental business because we can manage to pay bills...but if we used for personal I think 384 kbps is enough...
Just configure your browser the mozilla firefox so that your connection will meet the best speed...

Hmmm.. I think it depends on two things. One is the computer that you are using and the other is the internet connection that you have. If your computer doesn't seem to be working well now, then that also affects your connectivity, that's when you should purchase a new one. lol ;-) On the other hand, the problem might also be brought about by your internet provider. There are some providers that works best in some areas so you better choose the best working one in your area for you to get the best out of what you pay. ^_^

I think now, that my poor Internet speed may be due to the wast distance from the Phone tower.

Hmmm.. that also depends on your connectivity. If you are subscribed and is paying for your every download then that depends on the signal of your area. And if you are connected through a wifi access, then that depends on its range and your location. In mobile, there's this opera mini browser that you can use. It's a good one. I even have a friend here who uses that one on his phone and he can access the net without paying any cent! But that also depends on the type of mobile that you are using. If it's stupported or not. But as I have seen, mobile internet surfing is kind of slow. JUst my opinion though, I don't know if it's the same with others. lol ;-)

Answer these questions, let's see what will be good for you:
1. Which Internet connection are you using? (Speed and ISP name)
2. Has this Internet connection ever worked faster?
3. Have you tried this Internet connection with a different computer?
4. Does the computer normally work faster?
5. Does the speed of Internet connection changes in a day with time? (E.g. slow in the evening and comparatively faster late nights and early mornings)
This will certainly help us to provide you a better solution of this problem.

Thanks for the answers, shskumbla.
I have the same connection for my computer and while downloading the speed goes to 200 KB/Sec and more.
Try calling their customer care and spend some time in troubleshooting, I am sure after changing the settings it will be fine, you can check this URL for their contact details:
http://www.bsnl.co.in/network/cust_care_center.htm
Also, if that doesn't help, go to the nearest BSNL office and speak to them, it's not the old BSNL connection where we used to struggle to get a service, things have changed in India, I'm sure, it will be repaired and you will get good speed.

Hi
Its not like you can increase your Internet speed much more using some software or other process. For that you just have to change your service provider or move to high speed Internet plan.
Some browsers/software only can make difference little in your surfing experience. Like chrome is good in surfing sites than others. But its not like it will boost up your internet speed way up.
Just try to clear cache memory of browser and also uninstall unwanted addon from browser (if you have installed any because that can eat up your internet). This can be effective.

The speed of your connection depends on the bandwidth that your ISP gives. If you're not content with the current speed, you can contact your ISP to upgrade your bandwidth.

You can use some software to change the Maximum Transmission Unit(MTU), I have done it several times. It can slightly speed up your connection.

It really happens and it's natural. Here in our place, I mostly experience that because of the rainy season. Sometimes it is because of the abnormal flow of current. Your internet provider matters too. If your Internet Provider has low signal in your place, slow internet connection would happen. You can also ask your internet provider what causes with your internet connection to be slow.

Hi there,
Perhaps there are viruses attacking your personal computer? Did you install some online game software into your computer? Viruses tend to seep in through online downloads especially when the software is not from trusted sources.
If it is due to viruses one of the best solutions is to do a re-formatting. This can be done by a computer technician. I don't know how much it costs at your place, but here it is not more than RM50 for one complete re-formatting. However, keep in mind that this process will involve deleting all your old files so if you have important documents it is best to save them in an external folder such as in pen drives.
After the re-formatting your computer will be loading fast again, just like new! I hope this suggestion helps.

High speed internet service makes it go faster. Also, make sure to run disk cleanup and defragment. Sometimes you also need to clean cookies out.

Well i think before you can jump into changing internet service provider, if you are you are paying for fast internet connection then you should look at the times when your internet is slow and i guess it should mostly be during the day... And thats when lot of people and businesses are online
Try checking at night and you still a problem then check your isp and also your system

I wish I knew the answer to that. I have my anti-virus on, and I notice that my computer is a bit slow on mylot mostly... but it is a bit slow on other sites too. Not bad slow... but I notice it. If I want to type something I have to wait a second or two for the cursor to allow me to type. I wish I could speed it up too.

Hello, actually what is your internet speed?
If you are not getting enough speed, may be it is due to the virus affection. You may install a good antivirus and try once again.

Possibly you need a more update browser or you need to remove old stuffs from your saving files, or disk cleaning...etc. There are more possible things that slowing the speed of our internet connection, so take your time figuring it out what causes your internet speed and then find some ways to sort it out. Have a good day to you! :-)
