Manchester teams are not in CL.

I am very surprised that Manchester City and Manchester United aren't placed in Champion's League. Both of their teams are extremely professional and their reputations are worldwide. What could be the main cause of this fail?

Everything can happen in soccer . And I believe, a team can't win forever.. I believe the main cause why both Manchester fail is just because another teams played better than them . And also, maybe they are a bit unlucky at this season..

I agree with you but not only playing better is important for being successful but also chance and embracing opportunities are important.

Yes, it has really been the surprise for one and all. Man U just needed a draw from their last match against Basel, but managed to lose it. Similarly Man City left it really late and even a win was not sufficient for them to qualify for the knockout stages. Man City was unlucky as they managed to get 10 points which in the 6 of the other 7 groups was good enough to get them to the next round!! Cheers! Ram

First of all only Manchester United has a worldwide reputation not Manchester City. I am not surprised that Manchester United failed to as they do not really have depth in the squad and so struggled . I was surprised that Manchester city did not make it through but I think that they were arrogant and thought that they would get through without much effort. Manchester City have one of the strongest squads of any team in europe but there are alot of egos there and this may have cause disharmony.

There are many factors in them failing to qualify for the next round. For Man City, many can argued that they lack experience or they were in a tough group. For Man Utd, people can accuse them of being over-confident or the lack of a creative midfielder. The list can go on. But rest assure, they will be back next year and wiser.

@tkarabulut: There is no perfect football team in this world - there is no football team that never loses once. And that is the exact case when Manchester United and Manchester City failed to qualify for Champions League. Both teams, frankly said, have been inconsistent throughout the group stages. The disastrous part is when they failed to win their home matches. That is the basic rule of survival in Champions League - never fail to win your home matches. Every dog has its own bad day. And these Manchester teams are experiencing theirs. Form is temporary, quality is eternal.

It happens in life, you cannot always be the winner. Sometimes, you have to accept that other people are also capable of winning. They just need to swallow their pride and look forward to doing better next time.
