Cheek kissing is common in most countries- as greetings show gratitude sympathy or a way to say congratulations! In some country, rubbing of nose is traditionally a greetings. While other countries "nod their heads or bow, shake hands or kiss on hands" From what country you are my dear mylotter and will I greet you? Okay- did you know that a Prime Minister ask all his guest to kiss his wife's lips for greetings and if you refused, you are disgracing him.! hmnnn... HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE jaiho®- Kiss of an Angel 12-10-2011 9:23PM Saturday

sweetie, in my country you will get a lot of trouble, when you want to kiss or rub noses. we don't tolerate people touching or kissing us. we might shake ones hand, but not likely though.

Hi! In our country, 'kissing' is not used for greeting each other. It would be hand shake or gentle hug to greet. You know very well how to greed Indians.

Hello jaiho.........you did not write how do they greet in your country. About which Prime Minister you are talking, your country or some other country.. I am originally from India and in India, Hindus fold their hands and greet by saying "namaste" Muslims say Salam or all of them just shake hands like Christians and say hello. But no direct kissing. But now I am staying here in Israel. Here they greet each other with big hug and kisses. It is common here to kiss and greet not matter male or female.. As for me I have kept my Indian culture and just say hello from far.

Here in our country cheek to cheek kissing is the common tradition greetings for women or woman to man and handshake for men.

In my country, kissing is not a very normal way. It is better that we nod the head or shake hands with each other. I ever saw two foreign men who kissed to say hello in the hall and I really felt uncomfortable to it. It is just not our tradition. I love China

Youless, same like your country, i saw majority people in my country only shake hands when they meet with each other. I also felt not comfortable if i ever saw any adult kissing another adult, since in my culture, we don't have that type of practice yet.

Yes, we do not feel comfortable when we are not used to it. Kissing cheeks is very common to other countries- but not to everyone.

hi jaiho some women do kiss one other on the cheek but a lot of u s just shake hands or hug one other, I am not much on kissing other women on the cheek but love to hug and pat onw other on the back.,my kissing was reserved for my hubby but have been widowed many years. I guess us Americans are not much into touchy feely like people from other cultures. I amn from the USA and I can be greated with a nic e hug or hand shake. If I had been the Prime Ministers wife'I would have been a nervous wreck by the time all had kissed me. lol lol.If you met me we could hug though , thats always nice. lol lol Happy weekend to you too.its Saturday afternoon here.am waiting for my son to come repair my mouse or put in a new one.llol lol

Hi Jai sis, as for my country here, usually we are only allowed to shake hands. We only hug our elders and family members. As for kissing, so far only the elders are kissing their young children on the cheeks, during special occasions. But, so far i never seen any stranger adult kissing another adult in my area here. So, how should i greet you if i have the chance to meet you in future?

Well here in america, hugging, kissing, not on the lips, shaking hands are all common. But no one really kisses a stranger. They would kiss someone they new hello, like an aunt, friend, etc..

Hi jailo, I live here in the USA so smooching on the cheek is common here for almost all the things your mentioned, greetings, gratitude,sympathy...nose rubbing has not caught on here I don't think...I doubt if I ever meet a Prime Minister so kissing his wife's lip is out of the question. Being that I probably will never meet you either a simple nice post will be acceptable.

I am American, from the south (Texas) A kiss between strangers is really not proper but a cheek to cheek as you call it during a hug from a good friend is not that uncommon and a kiss on the cheek as a greeting or farewell from a good friend is also not uncommon and usually a lip to lip kiss would be reserved as those closest to you some kiss their children on the lips although I never did as it seemed to spread the colds and flu viruses that children always brought home from school and if they didn't bring one home I never wanted to be the one to send a cold to school with my kids to spread around. With all that being said and not knowing you, if we conversed by e-mail a few time then for some reason had the opportunity to meet in person I would gladly except a cheek to cheek or lip to cheek kiss from you as a greeting as we would be friends at some level I suppose

I don't like this fake cheek kissing, in fact it is not kissing at all. I prefer a handshake. I also don't like to be kissed and touched by every one.

With women a kiss on the cheek is normal, but with 2 guys a handshake is more accepted. Not that it never happens, depending on which city you're in a kiss on the cheek is also acceptable for men.
