I have a problem with my computer system and i am so frustrated because i tried all the tricks i knw to fix it but still i can"t get it to function properly again.
After 8 plus hours of operation it will suddently reboot itself when i try to play a movie or even music. After a reboot it would operate for 10 minutes and reboot itself again, is so frustrating.

Restarted after 8+ hours and then can only operate for another 10 minutes afterwards?
Sounds like an overheat to me..
Do your computer fans work properly? Try to clean the dust over those fans and then see what happens..
But well, if it doesn't work, there also possibility that your VGA or PSU have some malfunctions.. I think it's the right time to bring your computer to reparation guy..

I agree, probably it is overheat. Maybe the computer (CPU) is not properly ventilated.
Aside from cleaning the fans, the CPU must be positioned in such a way that the exhaust fan is not blocked.
Other causes maybe hardware failure.
I also experience the same thing, and I found out the capacitors of my video card was busted. This caused the DC supply of the CPU to become unstable.

And if it's hardware failure, it will be hard to check it by ourselves. Better bring it to a reparation guy.. At least they have a lot better equipment to check.
But I do hope it's only a matter of temperature.. :)
Anyway, I wonder whether loxian had already solved his problem or not. He's not giving any feedback at all..

There can be a few problems. Number one, you could in fact have a virus on the computer. And it could be one that is not being detected as well, which could really be a bad thing to say the very least. Obviously if it is rebooting after that length of time, there might not be enough time to deal with the problem.
Another thing is that it could in fact be overheating. My old computer did that, where it would restart at random times. It stayed started for a lot longer, but obviously different computers are going to have different kinds of problems. It can be agitating, but if there is something wrong with the cooling or if dust is blocking the air path, this could happen.

Does it reboot after 8+ hours or 8+ minutes?
Any error message before rebooting?
Which operating system is it and since how long has this problem started?
Do you have more than one operating system on this computer, if yes, please mention so that all of us can give you better suggestions.

First option if this keeps on happening to you is to do a whole computer scan. Make sure your antivirus has installed the latest update prior to running the scan.
Second, if you can recall the software or hardware you installed on your computer prior to this annoying shutdowns, try to uninstall them first. Then restart your computer.
Third, try running an antimalware program. Most antivirus don't have an antimalware feature in it so it wise to run an antimalware program too. Perhaps CCleaner can help you out. Just search for it over the internet. And please scan the downloaded version first with your antivirus.
Lastly, if all the options mentioned above don't seem to work for you, I hate to say this but you have to "reformat" your computer. Store all your drivers first before you proceed.
By the way, are you seeing some "bluescreens" before your computer totally shutdowns? And what OS (and OS version) are you using?
I use MS Win XP Service Pack 3.
