As I said in an earlier discussion I am having computer mouse trouble. yesterday I only spent half a day on mylot but just once my mouse stopped running and I had to unplug and plug back in.sounds so simple does it not? okay so this morning I have only been working for 20 minutes and it stopped. S o I just pulled the plug part way out and this time it did not work . so I had to unplug it then in a small space just a few centimeters larger than the plug in place I just could not get the blasted plug back in. I was shaking with tension getting mad at myself. so I pull the computer on its cardboard box out further so I can actually see the back. I untangled the cord of the mouse then tried one more time, voila it slid in. but here I am , sweating , shaking like I had just completed some really complicated brain surgery. And angry with myself for being like that.Other people can do all these things with such ease but me I feel'like a ninny trying to do fairly simple computer maintenance. Am I the only one who is electronically challenged? your take mylotters. i need a drink of water after all this. lol

I have quit trembling but feel silly once I got the darned thing plugged inl. hi 3 honor yes both kinds]are pesky I think we are rid of the rat problem as I ha ve not seen]it around now for a week. Sounds to me like you need a wireless mouse. I love mine -- when it works, and it works most of the time unless it's batteries die. But I can still relate to your problem. I haven't touched my old computer at the other house very oftenfor over a year because I can't get anything to appear on the monitor and neither mouse nor keyboard will work. Because neither works, I can't install the software to make them work. I bought a brand new mouse and keyboard and neither will work on this. So it sits. I suspect maybe the monitor connection might have come loose, but I'm not about to crawl to the back of the computer, which is on a stand I can't move, with a mass of chords. I never thought of that when I put the computer there. I don't need it for anything but my wireless connection, if for that, since I do use my laptop over there now, and it needs to use the connection. I'm not sure the router will work if I get rid of the other computer that has the wired connection.

You seemed to be having a bad day Hatley, I have experienced that a few times with usb chords, and i can't seem to stick it right everytime, because I'm to lazy to look closer that's why get a hard time plugging it in. And I think that it's normal :)

hi davaome well it started out bad but now the mouse is working I am now not trembling. I think I am electronically challenged. My old computer was chugging along pretty noisy and I am thinking what if I hit the wrong thing, then I had to laugh at myself. I did untangle the mouse cord and that I guess 'made me hold the blade end just right as it slid right in.Now I can laugh at getting so bent out of shape over it.

wow! I bet you want a new workable mouse put on your Christmas list. I think you had a sort of panic attack when it wouldn't work and you were trying so hard to get it to. I am very electrically challenged! I come from electricy challenged descendants. My grandma was almost afraid of electricity. She told me she could feel the electrical current when she went to plug something in. Can you imagine?

hi celticeagle well from whats happen today it looks like'I am getting a workout in plugging in the keyboard plug as well as the mouse plug and doing it right. My son unfortuneately cou ld not come to help me with a new mouse tonight as someone stole a wheel off his bike and he has been looking all over 'to get a new wheel to repair his bike. he said he will either email me or phone me when he can come. I just hate the way we'have so much thievery and most are from the Mexican youth gangs, they are all here illegally and people wonder why most Californians want them deported? because they kill people and steal all the time thats why.

hi celtic you know I have Mexican friends who came here legally, and became citizens and there is a world of difference between them as proud American citizens and the illegals who cause so much grief'with their thievery and their drive by shootings.when we had our house our neignbors were Mexican american citizens and were such great 'neighbers. we were even invited to their daughters wedding and that fantastic as part of the ceremoney and the dance people pinned money on her gown.I really enjoyed being there and she was so sweet in her lovely bridal gown and veil.

No ! you are not electronically challenged .I think your mouse is so old that it has to be scrapped.I often had problem with network speed last year.I change it from 2MB(megabyte) to 4MB this year. However these days it is normally at 360 kB/sec .I don't log in many web site including mylot.I have no choice but to restart computer again and again.

hi changjiangzhibin oh yes my mouse is acting like an elderly spoiled brat. I called my son yesterday as he had said he would come see me S aturday, thats yesterdcay, and bring me a new mouse. I found out that he had left his bike outside padlocked to the iron fence at his apartment complex. some horrid crook came along and just calmly detached his front bike wheel and stole it. oh my. He was so u pset as finding a new wheel was taking forever and was costly so he could not come. He will' call me when he gets his bike repaired then he can fix my mouse. lolso I have to keep m y cool and hope it will keep on doing its mousely duties. lol lol

dear Hatley as I am born premature my fine motorics have always been a problem for me so I hate it when the computer or even better the printer at work stops doint what it is supposed to be and here I am trying to find out what to do next. Sigh. So it would have been same challenge for me as it is for you and I am glad you found out how to fix the problem and hope no more upsets about your computer now any more.

Hey there Hatley! Sorry you had such a tough time with plugging and unplugging the mouse :( I've had similar issues though it usually involves weirdly shaped or sized (small) plugs. I do often get very frustrated but it's directed at myself. Before my MS, I had fine motor control and computers never fazed me, but since being dx'd I've experienced a lot of frustration. Could be the reason I follow K.I.S.S.--Keep It Simple Stupid.

like P urple saysdown below this slot is under the keyboard connection so even with a flashlight I can not see it but could feel it so was trying to slide the blade into the slot . I think I was holding it at an angle . so I untangeled it, felt the slot with my right hand and just slid it in like I had never had a bit of trouble in the first place. it fits into a slot just big enough for it so it has to be held a certain way .

I understand--I don't like the USB plugs in the back of my tower but I never had a problem with my laptop (other than remembering what plugs I couldn't use). But the weird space to plug in Jim's Black Berry is another matter entirely--I think it's just designed to aggravate me!

I don't think you are electronically challenged, Hatley. Hmm...not sure what the right word would be but I get the same way. There is almost no room for me to get behind MY computer when I need to do something like that. (Space challenged?) Also. I'm clumsy and have poor eyesight and the lighting in my living room is horrible at night. All those factors makes what should be a very simple job, turns into a very very frustrating adventure with me swearing at myself and my computer as well. Truth be known, I am electronically challenged also but if I can see what I'm doing and don't have all the other obsticles then I have a ton of patience and will play around with something until I get it up and running.

hi sid thats also my problem and last night it was probably funny to see me with my small flashlight in my teeth, my left had holding the keyboard plug so I will not dislodge it,while my right hand is 'trying to get the mouse blade plug back in its slot.I finally did 'it., the space is just wide enough for the plug, and the round pluf for my keyboard is just a hairsbreadth above it. so I am having such fun not.

If anything goes wrong with mine then I am on the phone to someone who knows what to do-and that sometimes is Tamarafireheart's husband! So at the moment she just hasn't felt like coming on the computer at all. I will let her know you are praying for her too.. Hugs LoLo

hi little owl so I am glad I am not alone. Oh my I did not know Tamara fireheart is so ill. I have missed her for months. Tamara was one of my first mylot friends when I first came on mylot. I do hope she gets better and will send some prayers for her to get well quickly and come on back to mylot. thanks for telling me about tamara.

I know exactly what you mean. for years ive been stressing when something is wrong with my pc. but worse then that is i get mad at myself for having emphezema and arthritis so bad that i can barely stand up or walk very far and can no longer do things like clean and cook that used to be so easy for me 10yrs ago. my daughter kept hinting for me to make a cake last night but i just didnt have it in me and she had worked long hours but had to make it herself and thats what i get so mad about.

hi bunnybon I think in some ways I know how you feel as since last February when I had that bad fall i have used a walker and am shocked at how hard it is for me to walk just a few feet across the room.I 'get scared I will lose my balance.,I should use my quad cane in my room more. I do so want to move out of here one day into an apt with my son but can I walk around like I used and once again cook for myself? I think I can but really can I?., anyway I just did a bit of a miracle here. my mouse went o ut for the third time and I finally got the mouse blade back in its slot only to have the keyboard round plug come out.but this time I pushed it back in and twisted it a bit and it stayed as the keyboard is'now working. I also have severe arthritis in my knees and my ultram keeps the pain down most of the time but since that fall my right knee still hurts usually at night. I have tried to the exercises I was told to do and they help some. the silly thing is I get tense and am still trembling , why its not that hard but yes it is for me.

yes it really does as I see others my age without having to use a cane or walker going out for the walks I used to take. I know my son is the same way too as he keeps telling me I need'more exericise but I panic when I get too far from the building as my'knee could give out on me. I guess I am sort of a sissy. I think in some way tthe walker makes me too dependent of it. I need to be able to walk across a room without the walker. darn.

hi devi ha ha no hardly I am just learning how to unmplug and replug some parts of my computer but other than that I know nothing about its innards at all.now I have got a set back a s my son had the front wheel of his bike stolen yesterday so he was looking all over the county trying to find a wheel to replace the missing front wheel. I guess the scoundrel thief was angry cause the bike was securely padlocked to the railing around my son's apartment so he just took the front wheel instead.so now my son has to get a new wheel for his bike then attach it. So he said he would call me or email me when he could come with my new mouse and install it.so once again I just wait and when it quits unplug it and replug it. lol lol
