I had an experience before about this discrimination thing, I had to go to one particular clothing store, I was just wearing shorts and shirt, upon entering one saleslady come to me and said, "can I help you with something" then I said, no I will just to look around for a while, then this saleslady followed me as if im going to shoplift, then I asked he, how much the shirt cost, then suddenly she told me, "I dont think you can afford it, do you have any credit card?" then I told her, " NO I PAY CASH" I can't believe that people judge other people through looks..
did encounter any of these?

But wearing shorts is a new trend now, and I am seeing a lot of people looking good wearing one. It doesn't even matter now if you wear shorts or pants. Your experience is kinda irritating to me, if I would be in your shoe.. that lady would probably hear something she would regret ever telling me those words. That is downright wrong, she shouldn't be working as a Saleslady.
My only experience with Salesladies before is when my mom and I is looking for a shirt for my dad. We were asking the shirt sizes and trying to look for one. When suddenly a guy who seems to be on his late 40's who looks rich came. Oh my, these ladies flocked to this guy and accommodating him, giving him all shirts to see... the saleslady assisting us left us.

that experience of yours is very typical, and it pissed me off every time I encountered one. I know that shorts are into trends right now, maybe that Saleslady is just dumb because she doesn't have any manners at all.. I hope I won't see her face again, because until now, I can't forget what she looks like..Im gonna hurt her..hahaha..;)

If you experienced this in the Philippines, you would notice that this is done with subtlety. Brace yourself if you are abroad, where you will experience blatant discrimination.
I guess this is normal though because humans really tend to prejudge others through outward appearance. Experience plays also a major factor in such behavior. The store you have gone into may have experienced being shoplifted by someone that dress like yours. Considering the pervading atmosphere currently, such behavior is also normal since shoplifting is rampant as people want to earn legally and illegally just to spend wantonly.
Lesson to learn from your experience: Dress simple yet respectable and understand others so that you won't feel disappointed nor annoyed.

i have never encountered anything like that ,what a snobby shop I would refuse to buy from them, mind you I don't usually like the fashions in expensive shops. I find that terrible, I hope you didn't buy anything from them.

Hmmmm, I don't know. I never experienced one of those times before. But honestly, if I ever you, I would've called the manager and reported it most especially if you did buy the shirt. As a saleslady, they are required to have good manners. Her attitude has more or less soiled the company's name. It may be inevitable to have pride but being disrespectful is out of the picture. Sometimes, you got to protect your image as well. I hope you have a good day. :)

Hi darknessfalls, don't worry I made sure I get even,After a week, I came back at the store again, I wore the same shirt and shorts, there she is waiting again behind the door, as I enter the shop I came across with so beautiful shirt, again she asked me, "are you gonna buy it ma'am. then I said YES! and told her "but before that kindly call your manager, I talked to the manner regarding her attitude last week.. then honestly I feel relieved when the manager told me that the He's gonna put the saleslady on probation and suspended for 1 Month.. to be sure I come back at the shop and noticing she's not there..
Then I finally realized if those people have respect customer this wouldn't happen to them..sadly I know she learned her lessons already.

dont judge a book by its cover. many people often judge people just from the physical appearance. that is so dangerous. dahlan iskan indonesian state company minister often wear just shirt and walk whenever he goes. people dont know he is a minister and very person. he is the owner o jawapos group. bob sadino, of of indonesia rich person has a veru bad appearnce too. he just wears white short and shirt and sandals daily. dont worry with your appearnce just prove you are much better than peopel think about you

Actually wulania, I felt good about it.. After what I did giving her some lessons,I just hope there wouldn't be another saleslady that does those kind of things. I know that it feels awful when they encountered that.. I just hope they would also defend themselves.

I didn't think it was as much discrimination, but more of exploitation that occurred at my last job. The problem that I ran into was that I am a big guy, and not just big, but big, heavy and strong. When I first started, people saw me as a bit intimidating because of my size, and build, and being as strong as I was. The place that I worked at, most of the people were a bit on the thin side, so it was quite unusual to have a big weightlifter working with them. It took a while for them to get used to me, likewise for me to get used to me being so much stronger than others, and not realizing that I am not normal. I didn't mind the work they was giving me at first because I like moving heavy stuff, and I was a bit of a show off. It didn't help that I never slowed up weightlifting so I was getting bigger and stronger. I admit, I weighed 340 pounds so a lot of people thought I was either a bodybuilder, or a football player, or store security. It's hard to hide big muscles. All people saw was this musclebound beast. The problem I was having was that people in my department was getting lazy, and started leaving me with more of the heavy physical work. I went to my boss about this, only to have it unaddressed, and finding myself doing even more heavy work. Before, some of the projects took two, three or four people, but then they figured, 'Oh we'll leave it to big boy. He has the muscles. We're too weak anyway'. Yes, I do have the muscles, but even they need rest. One day, I didn't go to work, and found out how busy it was the following day when I returned. When they realized how much I was actually doing by myself, they started backing off abusing me and my strength, and they backed off talking about how much I was eating because I was always hungry.

Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on their membership in a certain group or category. It involves the actual behaviors towards groups such as excluding or restricting members of one group from opportunities that are available to another group.
So that is bad...
