Did you ever notice these contradictions in NCIS?

I've been watching this show for several years, starting with a marathon on USA which caught me up with the early episodes. I still often have reruns on TV while I'm doing things online. That said, I saw one of the first shows where Gibbs, Kate, and Tony go to Gitmo to investigate the death of a translator. There's a scene with Tony in a bar and the bartender starts talking about the movie Shane. Tony says he's never heard of it, he doesn't know who Alan Ladd is, and he's never heard of Elisha Cook. Yet later on, Tony related everything to a movie he's seen and he seems to be the expert of everything on film. Did you notice that?
Also, in a later show, Magee does something strange. He's the shows nerd who usually knows nothing about movies. Yet, when they get ready to head off to the boondocks, Tony starts imitating the banjo from Dueling Banjos in Deliverance and Magee follows with the next musical line. Doesn't that seem a bit odd?
What do you think about those mistakes? Did you ever notice any others like that?
